pretty dissapointing though. this china team looks as bad as all the other ones. it doesnt seem like they have improved at all over the last 4-8 years

just about as predictable as you trying to compare Yao to Duncan.

The most amazing statistic of the tourny so far in my opinion:

Yao Ming 3 games played, 0 blocked shots.

    :(

Because they aren't penetrating when you is there. They mostly shoot from the outside.

Yao had one block in the game against Spain, if I remember it right. A guy tried for a two-handed flush, and got block by Yao from behind. The ball bounced out.

If there is a stats that shows the times a player gets dunked on... :( ouch

just finished watching the game (tivo). i liked what i saw from yao. when he actually got the ball, he did good things. all his shots didnt fall, but he got great looks. if the chinese guards would actually think about passing the ball to him instead of jacking up wild 3 pointers, he easily could have scored 30. there were several times where yao had good inside position but the guards didnt get him the ball. and you could tell yao was getting frustrated.

yao blew up at the end of the game again. he was unhappy about something and he was talking to one of his teammates. it wasnt anything close to the spain game, but you could still tell he was angry. i also liked it when he made a layup and got fouled and started yelling something on the court. its always nice to see yao with some emotion.

btw, i didnt see anyone serve up a facial on yao in this game. someone did dunk while he was going for the block, but it didnt look that bad.

    :)

As much as Yao is a Rocket and wants to win with the Rockets, he is still the primary of the Chinese national team. It's obvious he really wants to win. The kind of emotion he is expressing during the Olympics hasn't been seen in his days in a Rocket uniform. There's a strong probability that this emotional leadership will carry on into the Rockets' season.

You obviously do not know that some people live to enjoy the orgasm when they see a facial on Yao. Even if it was not really a facial, they could still jerk themselves off with some imagination. :D

the thing about it is that China never had such a huge international figure in basketball like they do with Yao. Thus, placing more responsibility and more pressure on Yao to be their global ambassador. Yao knows that he's the best they've got, and he knows that he has to be the vocal leader out there.

    On the contrary...

Over here, the coaches and other guys have been the vocal leader. Rudy, JVG, Francis, Mobley...Yao defer to him because he knows he's they're the 'elder statesmen' so he just defers any kind of leadership to them.

This year? Who knows. McGrady is here and is expected to be the vocal one and the one that everyone wants to interview so Yao might just go back to his quiet demeanor ways. But I hope he doesn't..for his team's sake, for his country's sake, and for his sake.

yao is not very quick so he may not get many blocks or rebonds he should have. on the other hand, who, with the right mind whould want to shoot over a 7'6'' guy with extended arms in front of you?
