Get the Lexus into another accident. Just make sure it's totalled. Do you have comprehensive insurance, or just liability?

Bobrek, the basis on earnings usually lags. He might not get a benefit on payments from the pay cut until the court looks at it again. My father-in-law always had very volatile earnings and he had years where he was expected to pay more in child support than he earned that year. And the courts didn't really give a **** either.

yeah, the problem doesn't seem to be child support at all. 20% is the same as every other non-custodial parent in the state for one kid.

it's no fun, but it is what it is. and i'm sure you're more than happy to provide for the kid.

cut your bills and work towards earning more money. hang in there.

Dont know if you're implying that going to court would have kept the child support from happening. No expert on this, but anything less than being married to her or living with her meant you're gonna pay? Its just a matter if she chose to file or not (women rarely dont file)

Sucks to see that. Consider that courts see payout amounts from all kinds of people. They might have seen a case before yours of $6500 a month, so in comparison $650 though its a lot to you might not look that way to them.

Thats right there is the flaw in the system. Its more about the woman's options of getting a committed relationship or taking the committed money. After the woman's secured in either one there's no incentive for her to be a good person to anyone. Plenty incentive to be a demanding woe-is-me b****

Well, I've had over a year to calm down and put things in perspective.

I'd just like to say, from the other end of the spectrum, kudos to all of you guys for doing the right thing and paying your child support, even in the face of ****ty ex-wives and poor court decisions. My wife is on the other end. Her ex-husband probably hasn't paid even 1% of what he should in the 3+ years they've been divorced. For my wife to get anything out of him she has to pester the hell out of him through several phone calls. We don't really need the money, so we haven't really gone all out in pursuit through the Attorney General (it is much more complicated when the dad lives in another state).

yeah, it happens, my left over is about $300, after I cover the insurance and pay roughly $1000.00 towards my kid.

I do have a question for you though? How long were you going with the 50/50 thing? if it's for a any substantial length of time the courts will traditionally frown on removing that time with the father from the child.

Other ways you can try to recoup some of the money is to ask for the daycare tax breaks along with claiming the child in taxes.

Reading another posters issues with child support, I'd like to add, that the thing I hate the most is having to pay taxes on the money I give to my ex. Then not getting any tax breaks against it. Another being there is no accountability given to the custodial parent, if she takes my grand and spends it on a new lexus there is nothing I can do about it. Where as if I take that $1000 and lock it into anthing that benefits my daughter while she's with me I go to jail...

As the noncustodial parent, your child care costs will almost double. I still buy her clothes, I still pay for her food at school, I cover gymnastics... doesn't make sense.

regarding the original poster, just wait until she gets remarried, and they combined make more than you. You're money becomes fodder...

we were doing 50/50 for about 9 months, she attempted to get back with me several times before she pulled the stunt. and tell me about it... let me tell you this as well.. when we were doing 50/50, I had to pay her 300 per month... for what reason i have no damn clue, so when i told her im not going to give her money anymore when were doing 50/50, so she threat to put child support on me, so i continue to pay her... 2 months later received a letter in the mail about child support... wtfff....

were okay now though since i really dont want thhis to be a big problem for me cause i have other **** to deal with and im just happy she is out of my life. I would have atleast 1k left each month but i took a big ass f'in pay cut...

I was paying 25% of my money cuz I had 2 kids with my ex-wife.
Ex-wife in jail now and I have full custody (for now) and no money goes to her.
I feel really bad in regards to my young kids not being able to see their mother ,but on the other hand, she is a bad person and is getting what she deserves. It is a double edged sword.

Hasn't "baby mamma" and "baby daddy" jumped the shark yet?

    I hate those phrases.
