pwn3d, gobsmacked, etc... just came back from a bar watching this. losing by this amount of points on ring ceremony night is like d'rob getting pwnt by the dream on mvp trophy night. crazy i can see it now... rox/bulls finals. finally.
I saw parts of the game while I was at Buffalo Wild Wings today.. that was some crazy shizzlit. The Heat were out to injure Tyrus on his first NBA game it seems.. what bullies. They deserve the loss... from what little I saw, Duhon and Hinrich totally KILLED! I wish we could trade Head and Skip for one of them.
The Bulls are for real. They were the best team that Miami faced until they got to Dallas in the playoffs last year. Now they've got Ben Wallace, their stars are older, and two promising rookies. I've had money on them winning the Eastern Conference since the Wallace signing. I have little doubt that they'll be the most successful team over the next 5 years, at least in the East.
I live in Chicago and get to watch the Bulls quite a bit. Very disciplined and hardworking team. Scott Skiles is one of the most under-rated coaches in the league IMO. Excellent perimeter play with Hinrich, Gordon, Duhon, Nocioni and Deng. But they are incomplete without a low post game. Sweetney is their best low post scorer and he may not get much PT. The Detroit champs from a couple of years ago is similar but that team had 4 very good scorers in the starting line-up. Like someone said earlier, the Bulls will probably make it out of the 1st round but I doubt they'll get any further.
Utter humilation for the old and slow Heat. They are unlikely to repeat as champions. They won with many of their players having their last best year. I don't see them repeating. One game doesn't make a season, but neither does "old and slow." Wade will be one of league's top players, but, sadly, his career will likely stall a bit with an aging Heat team.
Who does? Houston, Miami, San Antonio, potentially Phoenix; though Amare is at his best running the floor or facing the basket. Not the prerequisite it once was.
Good point, but 2 out of those 4 teams have NBA Championships with their current post players. Of course, Detroit won with Ben Wallace in the post. I don't see this as a weakness with Chicago.
I didn't notice Jason Williams play last night against the Bulls. Did he play? If not, then maybe that could be it. I'm not saying the Heat would've won, but maybe the loss wouldn't be that bad. Plus, Payton be stankin from what I saw.. and Walker was hideous... wait, he just looks hideous when he plays..
jason is still recovering from knee surgery but i doubt he could have really contained dunhon or hinrick any better then quin and payton did
Unfortunately I missed the game, but it looks like a rehash of what happened when we met them in the preseason -- they're old and flat footed. We were still kicking their butts even when we had our scrubs in. Miami has a huge problem. Their veterans are old and flat-footed, and their scouting department must be terrible because they have no rookies or sophomores even worth a mention. Quinn is the only youngster out there that looks halfway decent.
I guess points in the paint has to be the kicker in today's NBA. Detroit won with Ben, but let's face it, they were the third-best team in the NBA that year (behind San Antonio, and Minnesota. The Timberwolves were the best team in the NBA until Cassell hurt himself).
