huh? i'm a freaking lawyer...i'm all about fair trials! but these guys were shooting at us! they engaged in an intense firefight. what would you have them do?? stop firing back and read them their Miranda rights?
Chemical Ali has to be one of the worst guys of this regime. I almost think he's worse than Saddam himself. He was the muscle, of the operation, and I'll be happy when he gets the punishment he deserves.
What's wrong with a trial against the guy? They have incredible evidence about the 1988 gassing of those villages. Why wouldn't anybody want to see him put on trial for warcrimes? I think it would help to show the rest of the world the kind of horrible acts committed by these people, and the risks involved when they are perpetrated. It would really bring put a light on injustice, murder, and the horrible atrocities committed.
I am sure that he will get a nice military tribunal, or a joint trial with the new Iraqi government. As long as the sentence is death..... DD
I agree with your post, though. I say let the Iraqi's put him on trial. It would be a good moral boost for those people to "keep it in house" so to speak. I think it's safe to say he would get what's coming to him...
Any news if he's been coordinating or involved in the attacks on US soldiers or the embassy? Most likely, he's just been in hiding, like Saddam.
