I've got an online charge on my checkcard and I don't know what it is. I just filed a dispute with my bank, but I'm not sure what the process entails. Does anyone know what the process is? If it's a legitimate charge that I simply forgot about, will I eventually be notified of that? My company had a personal information leak a while back and we were notified that we should file a fraud report........I hope I'm not a victim. The payee is listed as www.stop-scam.com, but this site does not come up, and I can't remember any payments online.... Anybody had any experience like this?
I have twice. Call the number on the back of your card and explain. They will not pay the disputed item and freeze the card. They will get you a new card with a new number but it can take a week, so make sure your checkbook is handy.
If it wasn't for the capitalist ethos overtaking all common sense and decent conduct in America, you would never have to worry about your checkcard. (sorry, wanted to make this D&D material).
You sure you didn't get drunk and sign up for a bunch of internet p*rn sites and later forgot about them? Happens to us all.
Just call your bank form thenumber on the back of the card and they will cancel your card and give you a new one. This just happened to me, and my bank temporarily gave me the money back into my account, and they mailed me an affadavit to sign stating that I did not authorize the charge. If they find that the charge was made by you, then they will take the money back out of your account.
I already filed a dispute, and they credited me back. Supposedly, they will investigate.....it may be a legit charge, but I can't remember for the life of me.
