True, last night was technically a preseason game but we tried to approach it like it was a regular game. I'll admit that my expectations of ward are not particularly high, but I was pleased with his performance. He didn't do anything incredibly well, but he played good team (not individual) defense and didn't make many mistakes. I thought he'd be pretty weak but he is okay.

I was deeply disappointed in the Ward Aquisition. He has surprised me that he is not a liability. He has a nice inbound pass, and will be a better distributor than Francis, and he will toe the line with Van gundy.

I do not think he is a long term player, but for this year I am OK with him. He does not seem prone to turnovers.

We are so weak at the point....

His defense is still a problem. He is too slow for some quick guards in the league.

How 'bout the wily veteran move he made last night when he read that Tony Parker spin move during that one on one fast break? He was solid and a stabilizing floor general last night. If his threepoint stroke is on like it was last night, watch out!

To be honest, Charlie looks like he is fitting in better, or at least as good, here than Brent Barry is in San Antonio.

Ward has grown on me...I thought his defense was all hype...but I see tangible results...

He is a stick your butt to the defender, can't steal the rock, ball handler.
He sees the floor pretty well...
I think why I've always not liked him is his outside shooting...he has a knack for missing the 18 footer...sorta like Dennis Johnson back in the day for the Celtics.

I know it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but if he could be a dependable shooter, that'd be a bonus

Ward is a temporary solution. Until we pick up a new PG next year.

I've been pleasantly surprised by Ward too. I agree he isn't the long term solution but he isn't nearly as bad as I thought he'd be. That said, were I CD I'd still constantly be looking for ways we can upgrade the point guard position.

I wonder if the Rockets are still calling the Sonics asking about Antonio Daniels?

Agreed that Ward is only a temp solution. He is servicable. Hopefully by the end of next offseason we will have a starter PG in place.

I'm going to start worrying about Ward around February if he's playing more than 25 minutes a game, I'd rather see him around 20 but playing all the crunch time minutes.

Well, it would be nice if we could get a Bibby or Hinrich. But they weren't availible.

As far as THIS year. Ward/Lue are soild PGs. But not great. So, THIS year wont be lost or damaged just because we have Ward/Lue at PG. They were the best we could get. They will do a good job. But we can do better next year.
