Ah Luby's that brings back memories. I haven't eaten at Luby's since the early 80's.

The last time I ate at Luby's was the one on Waugh and W. Gray about two years ago. They had those servers.

    I heard a rumor that Landry's was buying Luby's.

    My Luby's:

    Fried fish
    Fried okra
    Mac in Cheese
    Roll
    Iced Tea
    Heart attack.

    haha

I like Luby's, but I did notice it get expensive...Pappas Bros. makes sense why...

Up here in Dallas, I go to Furr's, which is all you can eat and yeah, its like hospital food, but you get a lot of it... ;)

In Houston, I usually go to Picadilly's as on Saturdays, I think kids eat for a couple of bucks...me & three kids were like $10...

I always get the Chicken Fried Steak with Fried Okra and mash and gravy...When my kids don't finish the Fried Fish, I take that mofo out...

Baked or fried fish with lots of tartar sauce...it's always good. IIRC the 35 and Oltorf location had/has a buffet. The location would close at 6 PM so we never had a chance to try it.

So I tried Cleburne Cafeteria tonight and, man, was I dissapointed. I had the lemon pepper cod, green beans and mac & cheese. I've always heard such great things about that place everything I had was very bland.

Plus it cost me $14! :(

Man, I went to Luby's last night and saw the changes. To be honest, I really liked the waitress coming around. I wanted another roll and I didn't have to go back through the line. The food was the same and, personally, I preferred the service to what I got before.

Almost the same exact thing for me.

Sub cabbage for the mashed potatoes, and I get a Dr. Pepper instead of tea.

The mac & cheese there is standard with any entree as far as I'm concerned.

By the way, I have not noticed the food being any colder than usual since they started serving out of the dishes. I go there at least once a week, usually To Go, and it's always perfect temperature when I get it home.

okay, now that i've read everybodys take on lubys, i guess i can give mine.

First, I haven't been there in eight or nine months.

I only patronize the Luby's on Waugh and W Gray.

Usually, I get the Chicken Fried Chicken, Fried Fish, Tilapia, Southwest Chicken breast thing.

For the sides, I get either Okra, Mac n Cheese, mash potatos, or some type of rice. My friend always, always teases me about getting the rice.

I never typically eat at places like this. Cafeteria food just isn't my thing.

At the location on Waugh and Gray, we order, we take our ticket, and find a table. Five minutes or so later after sitting down, Steve or some waiter or waitress comes by and introduce us and tells us that if yall need anything, call him. And sometimes we don't hear from steve. And then we pay at the counter.

    Is that how it's normally?
