Frings, Guerrero and Makaay had opportunities to make it 6-0. Arsenal did not really have any chances, and the only goal they scored was because of an individual mistake by Sagnol. I think we will always score one away-goal, so they would have to score 4 against us to advance. I just don't see that happening.

Yeah, I mean before the game... having seen it, it's not. They should be happy with that one goal.

Bayern won the game and convincingly. Yet it certainly doesn't help when our already porous defense is missing its only two world class defenders.

But your post was pretty close to being right on. Viera was not even close to dominant, not sticking his feet in and going for the 50/50 balls and we HAVE to have that to be successful. I don't think anyone realized how much losing Gilberto would hurt us.

As for SJC drunken proclamations: glad you had a good time at the game! Arsenal did actually have chances. Had Reyes squared the ball to Freddie when he had a wide open net this game could have been vastly different. As it was we looked very close to adding a second as time was running out. If Arsenal had played with that sense of urgency all game... We'll see how the rematch goes but I'm optimistic. Berkgamp will be back along with Cole, Campbell, and possibly Gilberto. But again Bayern played a good game so well done.

Then why are you posting? The bottom line is that pretty much every team has its guys who go to the ground too easily. Granted Cole did on the Keane challenge, but I'd put him more in the Rooney category than Van Diver's. It seems to be more a continental thing than an English thing though. Anyway, the point is that because we have incidents with our own team doesn't mean we shouldn't criticise players when they make a meal out of a bump.

Good luck with that contract extension Carroll.

AC Milan did what they came to do - controlled possession, stifled ManU's attack, pounce on the keeper error.

I'm completely gutted. Last year Howard's error singlehandedly knocked us out and now Carrol has put us in a HUGE hole. Can we please get a real keeper? Funny thing is Carrol rejected an extension yesterday!

And one more thing, what the hell was Fergie thinking taking off Ronaldo for Ruud? We weren't creating chances with a five man midfield, how the hell are you going to get chances when you go with a four man midfield and take out your best attacker? Ruud needed to be on, but he should have taken Rooney's place as the lone striker. Ruud can't score without service.

Well, unlike you I was rooting for ManU (unlike you meaning I was rooting for YOUR team). Got not too much ManU love, but I think the EPL is heartily underrated and would have liked to see Chelsea, Manu, Arsenal, AND the Kop advance. Now, as I said earlier, we all got a hard row to hoe except the Kop.

I hope you beat their asses in Milan. :)

I wasn't really rooting for you, but I wouldn't have minded if you won. I just didn't think you had any hope with your defense this year (even if you had Cole and Sol).

    Olé SUPER FCB!

Bayern completely controlled the first half against Arsenal...Arsenal had very few chances the whole game, scored a lucky goal, and that and the fact that Makaay was not in there to kill them early was the only reason it even got close...

    Who shall stop Bayern?

    Nobody.

That would actually be my favorite opponent for the next round. Semifinals pretty much guaranteed...

Lol... I hope we get an English team simply because I want to be able to watch it on TV. Otherwise I always love playing German teams - love beating our enemy. :p Plus, why do you want to play PSV? To be the best you have the beat the best - why settle on who you think are the worst?

I think PSV might surprise some people, they are playing quite well in Europe. Of course I'd be shocked if they actually managed to get to the next round.

That goal was STUNNING. It was better during the actual game though as it came out of nowhere. You just didn't expect that from the flow of play.

I hate Mourinho now too.

First, Bayern was more offensive in the first half than one would have expected. Second, Arsenal had enough chances to take the tie, and DID win the game btw. Third, Henry's goal was brilliant and for you to say it was lucky shows poor sportsmanship on your part. I'm disappointed Arsenal lost, but just as disappointed that you are show so little class in winning the tie. Viera had Kahn soundly beaten only to go wide, Kolo had a good header pushed over by Kahn, and multiple other chances failed to hit the mark. Arsenal were hardly lacking in threat however, and Senderos was awesome.

Who shall stop Bayern? You won't stomp Chelsea for sure. You barely escaped out of this round after taking a 3-1 first leg lead.
