I know there's still a ton of football to be played.... but I think the discussion should be started as to who is in the lead to win the Heisman right now. As of today, my top 5 would go like this... 1. Cam Newton (Auburn) 2. Kellen Moore (Boise State) 3. LaMichael James (Oregon) 4. Terrelle Pryor (Ohio St.) 5. Denard Robinson (Michigan) My list has shifted around pretty much every week, as it should... Newton has been really impressive, though I think if there's a player that's been the most consistent, it has to be Moore. Any of these 5 guys would be great winners... Wanted to put Luck in this list, but I think Robinson has been pretty damn good this season to be in this race.
Big game for Newton today... against a damn good LSU defense... He has to prove why he's the leader of this Heisman trophy right now.
Terrelle Pryor is a fraud and never should have been on anyone's top 5 list. My big 3 are: Cam Newton LaMichael James Denard Robinson + Andrew Luck If Cam Newton has a great game against LSU, it will be his to lose. LaMichael James is a supreme talent, but this may not be his year to win the Heisman. I know he has at least one more year of college, but I can't wait to see this guy in the NFL! Denard Robinson needs a legit team around him, otherwise defenses will just spend 90% of their focus on him alone. Andrew Luck probably doesn't have much of a chance but he's the top NFL QB prospect in the land. Haven't seen enough of the Boise QB. His stats are like a video game but Boise's level of competition takes him off my board. But if he continues at this pace, no doubt he'll get an invite.
I think the last 2 losses are going to take Denard out of the race. Against Michigan St. he threw 3 picks. I don't see him winning the heisman at this point.
The four I expect to go to NY are Pryor, James, Newton, and Moore today. Obviously a lot can change from now till the end, but I think I'm set on these 4. I agree with Shaud, Robinson lost his chance a couple of weeks ago.
It's pretty much decided that Newton is going to win this thing... If Auburn hangs on... should be nice to see the Heisman winner vs. the runner up in the national championship game.
