Always has been, and always will be. There is no argument except a useless attempt to make one by a Ewing fan. The stats head to head and wins head to head speak for themselves, I think.

    1. Shaq
    2. Robinson
    3. Hakeem
    4. Ewing
    5. Sabonis
    6. Dudley [IMG]

I don't think there's any really DOMINANT centers in the West (Shaq excluded) - there's a lot of young guys who have yet to really prove themselves (LaFrentz/Cato/Dampier) and a bunch of ageing stars who hold sway right now!

Dream will definitely be able to contribute more than he did last year with his breathing ailments behind him!

Ewing whipped Hakeem last year like a red headed step child. (apologies to Slim Pickens)

There aren't very many dominating centers, period. I might also mention Kandi in LA. He has more potential then Cato, Lafrentz, and Dampier.

One game Hakeem didn't play vs. New York. The other he was suffering from a horrible breathing problem, and Ewing managed to score just 16 points on him. He scored 14 on Shaq, and 25 on Alonzo Mourning. Did he whip them too?

Ewing IS better than Hakeem right now. Only a dumb-ass would say Ewing was better than Dream before Dream's body went to see the spirit in the sky.

Ewing outperformed Hakeem I think for the past two years. Everybody needs to quit making Hakeem out to be all-star material now. He's just not. Period. But is arguably the best center ever (it's a legit debate between Dream, Abdul-Jabbar, and Chamberlain).

Don't anybody ever suggest again that we sign Tracy Murray to a deal.

Hakeem is definitely the best center ever, but Ewing is better right now. But so is Cato, so that's not saying much.

Did somebody really say that Kandi has more potential than Cato. That has got to be the stupidist thing I have ever heard. Olowakandi is one of the slowest moving centers in the nba that cant shoot, rebound, play d, or pass the ball.

I don't care because Hakeem has 2 rings and Ewing has none!

Id still take olajuwon over ewing.Despite the fact that he's in the twilight of his career guys who drive the lane still have that intimidation factor when he's in the game.Olajuwon will have a steady final season.

Only a dumbass would argue that Ewing dominated Dream over the past two years. Ewing hasn't even been healthy over the past two seasons. Please don't try and start a Ewing vs. Dream debate. You will lose and lose badly.

    agree, agree , agree...
    98/99 Ewing had injuries ...
    99/00 Hakeem injuries ....
Can we correctly judge at this stage of their careers who is better ?

    I don't think so!

Prior to that?.......... Let's not even go there, anyone w/basketball knowledge would know that Hakeem has totally SMOKED Ewing.

    DrNuegebauer,
I don't feel Dudley is the six best center in the west. Why do you feel Dudley is the sixth best center in the west? The guy doesn't have an offensive game and his Free Throw shooting is horrible. Kelvin Cato is five times better than Dudley. Micheal Olawakandi and Shawn Bradley are better than Dudley.

Kandi will be good. like all experts said...it will take time though. i see him as a level under shaq/hakeem/kareem/etc. which puts him with moses malone/mutumbo/etc. if he really develops well he could get into the most elite group of centers
