I just got a Sony w600 and everything ias working fine except my text messaging. I can receive text messages just fine but the problem is when I try to send them. I'll set the name to whom I am sending the message and then type the message and then press send. It responds with a message: Sending failed. [Name of person] unknown recipient.

This is also my first cell phone besides a Nokia. So if anybody knows what this means please help me out. Thanks.

Hell, I have had it for half a day and even though I cannot figure out the messaging problem I love it. It's like an Ipod and cell phone in 1. :)

That's the only way you can write messages on the w600 or at least it is the only way I've been doing it.

it's a problem with the carrier of your service on the programming side.

OK, I talked to a Cingular representative and they said I would have to do a new contract because my SIM card is ATT even though Cingular bought ATT, I received a message saying Cingualr is now my provider, and I am able to use Cingular's service with my old SIM card. I forgot to ask if I'll have to be approved or just sign a new contract. Do any of you know?

You should just have to sign a contract. Btw...I love that phones battery life. I have an unlocked Razr right now and when I get a new phone I'm getting the w600i (unless something better is out by then).

I found out the problem but I found out another problem that many w600, w800, and w900 users are having and it struck me and my phone actually had to be sent away to be serviced. :(

Is there such a thing? I posted on that other BBS that was posted in this thread and someone said the phone would have to be flashed, whatever that means.
