I'm looking for somewhere to do CD Replication. I will be doing somewhere between 500 and 1000 I think. I've found many places on the internet, but I'd prefer to go with a local business. If anyone here has used any CD Replicators in town, and has had good experiences, let me know. I just got a quote from NetCDROM.com, and they're the first Houston-based business I've looked at.

I'm also interested in those mini-CDs that hold 230 megs -- I only have about 180 MB to put on the disc.

    Thanks!

What is "CD Replication"? Please excuse my ignorance. I assume you're not talking about simply burning a CD.

It's burning a CD, usually refering to large amounts of CDs and high quality duplication

Yeah, what Johnny Rocket said. It's usually taking a master cd and burning hundreds/thousands of copies of it for distribution. The quality of the duplicate CD's can also be better than the quality of the ones you burn on your home PC.

It's also referred to as "stamping."

ie: "My band just recorded our first album. We got 5000 CDs stamped."

Generally, it is referred to in the professional music world as CD "Duplication." Look in the back of any music magazine, specifically Recording, Home Recording, Mix, Electronic Music or Keyboard. There are a wide number of options.

If you are doing 500, you should consider doing 1000. It is almost always cheaper to do more. Usually, it is like $1000 for 500 and $1200 or $1300 for 1000. Most of them will do your printing if you have camera-ready art and they all should shrink wrap if you need it. If you are selling the CD's, you'll need to consider the bar code which is $700 to $800. Some duplication places will handle it for you.

    Good luck!

These are actually just little CDs with a 180 Meg video on them, and a little intro screen to launch the video. They are recruitment CDs for incoming freshmen.

I found out more about them:

I need 1000 CDs made, sleeves are not necessary. I'll need something printed on them . . . probably just 2 color, but maybe 3 or 4.
