Kam made me think of this, I thought I heard recently that CD prices were going to drop down to the bargain price of 10 dollars. supposedly they are doing this to deter people from downloading so much music. However, I have not seen a cd for that cheap unless its a Bobby Vinton CD, did I hear wrong? whats the deal?

Haven't heard that but i would be great. Hopefully that would in turn drop the price of used CDs as well which is what I try to pick up.

Usually when unknown bands come out, they start them off at bout $6-$10. Some examples I bought are:

    Pete Yorn
    Puddle of Mudd
    The Calling
    Lit

But once they get popular, they jack up the price quickly. Another example is Ashanti. Her album came out this week and is priced at $10. She hasnt hit it big going solo but is already popular by singing with JaRule and Fat Joe.

There was a thread on here recently about this. Probably 2 months ago or so . . . I am too lazy to look it up right now though.

Hey man...go check the billboard charts and you'll see that Ashanti has hit it big on her own...

Her solo debut single is at #3 on the pop charts.

    ;)

I bought a couple of new CD's and paid $8 a piece for them in Houston. They are cheap the first few weeks and then shoot way up.

    You can always try here:

I think that was a thread telling of the prices dropping, consider this a followup thread. I have not seen a change in the prices one bit. Seriously, unless I want to listen to the beach boys "greatest hits" consisting of 10 songs, with a printer quality picture on front, and a CD straight from the burner. I am going to have to fork out 16 bucks. I just dont undersatnd how the music industry could say they are lowering the prices then not do it. Or lower the price for all of 2 weeks before jacking it back up.

A cd is not worth 16 bucks, at all. I dont care who it is, not even my beloved DMB is worth 16 bucks especially when I can download it from the net or get a copy from my freinds.

DMB is worth whatever it costs . . . But the live stuff is better, and it's free :) I just with I could find .shn of Lillywhite.

I dunno, when I think about it, the enjoyment I've gotten out of some CDs (Live Art, Stankonia, Superunknown) has easily been worth the $14 I paid for them. But then there are others that aren't worth $5 (Vitalogy, Houston Rockets Album).

But if the record companies want to make more money and increase their sales, they should stop whining about napster, and instead look at their own high prices and (in plenty of cases) mediocre product.

Yea, I dig that "Foolish" song alot. But, really, she hit big by singing with JaRule in Always on Time and Fat Joe's Whats Luv, which I like both songs ALOT.
