Of All the Nerve Thursday, March 27, 2003 By Neil Cavuto Why do the French make things so easy for me? Have you heard this one? Never mind that France wanted nothing to do with getting rid of Saddam and wants everything to do with rebuilding Iraq after Saddam. Here's the kicker: France says Britain and the U.S. should not have a role -- it's up to the United Nations to decide. So, let me see if I've got this right. France offered not one soldier, not one plane, not one tank, or ship, convoy or grenade. Not one missile. Not one drop of blood. And yet, France is going to decide the new Iraq? Well pardon me, Pepe, but I don't think so. I don't know what amazes me more: How callous the French are, or how arrogant they are. People are still dying in Iraq and they are already tripping over their corpses to cash in on Iraq? France couldn't lift a hand to a rifle to help us, but is more than willing to go for a few of their precious Euros to screw us? We fight and die to free a people whose suffering you more than happily ignored. And they saunter in to set up shop so that they can merrily profit? Please tell me the French word for chutzpa! France schemes to sell brie, after we've given blood? France plots business storms, while our guys are choking in sandstorms? France notifies the world they're ready to do deals, while we have servicemen in this country notifying families of killed soldiers they're ready to do funerals? What the French lack in guts, they more than make up for in nerve. France wouldn't help the Iraqi people when they needed rescuing, but is more than willing to dive in and take the money because maybe France needs rescuing. The French are as morally bankrupt as I hope soon they will be financially bankrupt. Pity the poor country that calls you a friend and realizes the hand it's holding, is only digging for spare change.
LOL, good job of avoiding the content of the message. The French are demanding that they be able to profit from the rebuilding of Iraq. I agree with Cavuto- the French are the most immoral player in this tragedy outside of Saddam himself.
Despite its inanities, Fox is much much more credible than your fringe "progressive" news source, get over it.
The only content I see are extreme hystrionics from a hack. Cavuto conveniently forgets the military assistance France provided us in Afghanistan. Typical Cavuto.
Before anything, let me say that I am not a conservative... "I'm not a conservative." But give me a break, calling someone a "conservative hack" is about as immature, petty, and stupid as you can get. I enjoy watching Fox News more than any other news channel out there because I think their newscasters have more personality than any of the other networks...Just because someone has an opinion doesnt mean they are a "hack."
I hadn't watched Fox's news channel before the war. Now I know what many are saying. They do a decent job on reporting news, but they are horrible about adding their snide remarks. Their bias is not so much in what they report but how they report it.
That's just it. Newscaster need to leave their opinions at the door. All they need to do is report the news. That's it. Leave the opinions to the talk show hosts.
If our mission is purely for humanitarian and security reasons, should the US, or more accurately, it's corporations profit? Seems like a conflict of interest to me. How many times did Bush say in the debates he was against "nation building" after conflicts?
Cavuto isn't one of their newscasters, if I recall correctly. I don't watch his show much, but I think I remember it being an opinion type show (I could be wrong)...But I know he's not an anchor or reporter.
I disagree. I think coalition countries should get 100% of the contracts. We are giving the Iraqis their freedom adn access to their oil profits. Our young men and women are dying for their cause, and our companies and workers should benefit from Iraq's reconstruction. He said that, but you are taking him out of context. He said he was against nation building such as what occurred in Haiti and Somalia. We have an obligation to rebuild Iraq if our military damages their infrastructure.
FOX calls him an anchor "Neil Cavuto was named anchor and managing editor of business news for the Fox News Channel in July 1996. He was later promoted to vice president of business news, while continuing to serve as anchor of Your World With Cavuto, the no.1 business news show on cable"
B.S. We are spending our tax dollars, and spilling our blood. We need to be compensated for our efforts. There is a difference between fair compensation and exploitation. If we get to the point when we are exploting the Iraqi people, I will agree with you.
I guess after seeing the French, many people forgot that true friendship exists in international politics. Iraqis have many problems in their society, ingratitude isn't one of them. If oil companies are going to profit after the war, why shouldn't the US ones be their choice? Besides, we choose the Iraqis who's going to choose their business partners. F*ck France.
But if we're doing this for our safety and to free Iraq (why I'm aboard), then isn't those causes the reason we are risking our soldier's lives and spending our tax dollars?
I bet you don't say things like this when you aren't hiding behind your computer. Go to any bar, and call our soldiers who are risking their lives "war criminals". You will get your proper response, you disgusting piece of ****.
