Why doesn't MLB allow youtube highlights of games? btw: So, I'm from the software industry and refuse to ever use unlicensed software. But TV shows are different. I think I changed my torrent attitude on TV shows when I was on a one week renting binge of The Shield and one season had only one show on the final DVD...not to mention all the times the DVDs would skip. I mean, screw you Blockbuster! Next up is The Wire and I ain't using you!
They can know various ways, by your local IP address and by also monitoring network traffic. BitTorrent only uses ports 6881-6999 (I think), so it isn't hard to monitor the traffic. If you have to login to your network like some schools, they can just monitor and flag your bandwidth usage.
Because they're stupid. The more people who watch highlights, the more fans you'll have... MLB is the music industry of pro sports.
At cal they track you by the MAC address of your computer. That being said, it's casually possible to circumvent the weekly bandwidth limits and torrent issues by changing your MAC address to a "friend"s MAC address
torrenting is pretty sweet, I have the new Madden, NBA 2k, Mafia II, Vanquish I even downloaded red dead redemption, nearly 2 weeks before it released, saved over $500 in videogames since I modded my xbox 360
