This past Saturday, I drove about an hour and a half to Nashville to get a cat from a rescue shelter. Even though we already have 2 dogs and a cat, there was something about this cat that touched my heart and my family's. His owner had died recently and they had no family. I was told that we would be his 4th family in 16 days! His name is Tigger and he is a Maine Coon. I have always wanted a Maine Coon as I feel that they are absolutely majestic cats. Tigger is 12 and weighs 24 pounds!! Apparently, his owner fed him nothing but table scraps! We don't know how much longer he will live (especially considering his weight) but we feel good that he'll have a home to stay in to live out the rest of his years. Even though I have had a cat (Tigger makes my 2nd cat) for 3 and a half years, I am still new to cats so I would like to know what are people's favorite breeds.
A cat is a cat is a cat is a cat. Unlike dogs, it seems like every breed of cat I've encountered is the same.

Maine Coons are really good cats. My cat is at least part Maine Coon and one of my ex GF's owned two Maine Coons who were very friendly cats. As you note they are big and they shed a lot but they generally like people and can be trained to fetch.
I like cats. And have had them for much of my life. But I have no idea about breeds. There's persian (the really furry ones), Siamese (those grey ones)..and then...cats.... Black ones, white ones, orange ones, tiger ones. They're just cats. I like black cats. Is that a breed?
I totally read this as Favorite Bread and thought you were seriously asking us what type of bread that cats prefer.
