What if cato starts playing like this all the time and starts becoming a rebounding/ defense presence? or Would you try to trade or keep at center and maybe move ming ming to pf.

I think Cato was putting a very good game. And I believe he'll keep playing with the same intensity. Yao was doing a lot better in transitional defense. His agility did show some promise tonight. But you guys got to know a guy in his height will not get the rebounds from elevating. It is about timing and positioning and little dirty work. ;)

So in other words you're asking, if Cato has some more good games, would we trade or bench Griffin, and move Yao to PF just to start Cato? I'll let that question answer itself.

Cato had the flu tonight. Can we give it to him permanently if he plays like this every night?

The most I ask for out of Cato is this:

To be a solid back up, and, honestly, he looks like he may be the best backup center in the league if he keeps this up.

More importantly, to work really hard in practice in an attempt to make the starting squad. I don't want him to do this so he will start, but to make yao a better and more physical center.

Eddie and Yao are our future. Cato I hope will play a role in the rockets system though

leehoang, get off the senior member nonsense. If you think it was a stupid post, then say so, but taking shots at someone with respect to something as meaningless as post count is just silly and bad for the board, in my opinion.

I'm glad we have Cato while Yao adjusts to the league. I'm not in favor of moving Cato just for the sake of moving Cato, but if trading him opens up salary to keep KT or gains us a talented player we just can't pass up, then that's fine. Cato would have to start playing like he's a steal at his salary for me to consider going out of my way to keep him. But there's nothing wrong with having an extra big man on the roster, especially a big man who can actually contribute occasionally.

Cato is an excellent back-up center.

    Period!

Yea but he was much more agile and fluid than Yao. Yao is a true center, meant to play only the center position. Sampson didn't know what he wanted to be.

I'll second that, Cato played a great game, nothing more needs to be said.

He has definitely been pending some time in the gym. He has never been this ready physically to start a season.

    Props to the big man!

Positions assigned are not the norm these days. Besides, Ralph was a twin tower, a two CENTER set.

Mobley and Steve are not SG and PG. They are a blend of both. Mobley started at "SF", but it really was a PG (Mooch) and two SG set.

I think a two center set with Cato and Ming was what Air Langhi was talking about. If Cato keeps playing like he did last night, then I'm definitely not opposed to that.

    Props to Cato!

And yes, when we are losing to size why not put Cato at PF, Ming at C, and Griff at SF? I personally would have liked to see the "all-tall team".
