Cato needed this

I believe that Cato needed this and we may be able to run a large line up at times.

Kenny is 6'7" but would work good at the 3 and has the range of a 3. He some low post moves and can create his shot. He will struggle at defending some of the 3's like Marion or Finley. The 3 spot is fairly solid.

Cato had made some progression last year. I think the intensity should be sustained now because he will be fighting for playing time and has to impress. When Hakeem left he was our center by default. I remember him playing against Boston last year and he was sick but it was one of his best games.

Hopefully this will bring a whole lot of intensity to the team.

It has started them to believe already.

Cato doesn't even want to be the starter. He knows he will be relegated to the bench soon and doesn't even seem to care. I dont think he'll change. He will just suck his contract from the bench now and wont even have to play that much.

Of course I hope I am wrong about all of this.

Rockets03, even last year Cato said that he was more comfortable coming off the bench. He really does not want to start. Not sure why. But, if he plays good coming off the bench then great. In fact, he will be, IMO, the best backup center in the league.

They started the combo of EG, MT and TMo instead of putting in Cato already...

IN today's Chronicle article. He even said that Yao was BETTER than him! So that is good, that he accepts his role and will do what it takes! So meaning we will have 2 MEAN active Centers gonna do some SLAMMING!

I like Cato more and more. Seems like a good team guy, actually, I never expected that.

I'm not going to go back and read it, but Cato said that Yao, was already better than him, not Duncan

"If I want to be good in the NBA," he said, "I have to be strong like Kelvin Cato."

Tonight, Yao might get a taste of strong like Willis. He surely will get a close-up look at Robinson and Duncan, the league's reigning Most Valuable Player.

"He's going to see a lot stronger than me," Cato said. "But he's better than me already.

Yes, you are right. One quote, though, did stand out to me:

"He can get the position he needs with his lower-body strength," Cato said. "He does have great lower-body strength. The way Steve and Cat (Cuttino Mobley) pass to the post -- they haven't done it in a few years -- but if they can throw it into the post, he can do something. Yao's going to make it more balanced for us."

Does anybody else see that Cato is criticizing Steve and Cat here and challenging them to pass to Yao??

Damn, I really like Cato's quotes. Keep him.

I noticed the exact same quote. I really didnt get the impression that Cato was dogging Steve and Cuttino. I think he was just implying that because Hakeem has been off the team or injured the past few seasons, the Rockets havent run their offense through a big man in a few years and that Steve and Cuttino may have to get used to passing into the post on a more frequent basis than what they have been used to. :D

Actually, I think you are right. He is not dogging them, he is implying that now - in contrast to when he was one of the main options to pass to in the post - it might actually make sense and be the better option for Steve and Cat to pass into the post.

I'd be really worried though if Cato was indeed dogging them because they dont pass him the ball enough. lol I think Cato is too smart to make a foolish statement like that.
