For a catcher? Yes, a .759 OPS was solid.

i'm still waiting for Nook to answer my question for the past 2 years about his claim that Milo Hamilton was a terrible human being.

I have my strong, strong suspicions why, but I'm still curious.

Even when we traded for an offensive catcher, Rick Wilkins, it didn't work out for the 'stros. And who can forget the debut J.R. Towles had before he forgot how to hit :(

    Yeah I remember that.

Also Taubensee was pretty solid as the strong side of the platoon if I remember right. But Servais played some RH pitchers too because of his superior defense.. I think

Taubensee was pretty bad with the Astros...when he went to the Reds he started hitting lights out. I can't remember if we let him go or traded him, but he was an offensive beast when he left the 'Stros naturally

I wouldn't call .229 good for any MLB player maybe acceptable but not good then again I'd take that this year over what Castro is doing at the plate

I was a catcher once in the leagues growing up. I once hit four home runs and a double in one game with proud papa watching behind the cage and home plate.

That said...I DUNNO WTF CASTRO'S DEAL IS? DUDE CAN'T HIT WORTH A SH_T!

It's sad the Astros have him as their primary catcher. It's like some requirement that Astros catchers are crappy hitters as a matter of fact. Damn, I miss Craig Biggio and Alan Ashby as catchers.

Seriously, Ashby? Intriguing. His career slash line:

    .245/.320/.361/.681

    Castro:

    .236/.308/.391/.699

    Ha ha...I blame faulty memory.

Also, those are career stats? Castro's trajectory is downward. You would expect he would get better over time. I dunno.
