In Blineberry's (sp?) article in the Chronicle today, he states his belief that Rudy likes to avoid confrontation. That he would rather remain quiet than try to interject into problems.

Don't know if I can agree with it, but it does bring up an interesting idea:

Cuttino has become the biggest focus after each win/loss. And a lot of you are saying that his mistakes annoy you more than anyone else's.

    Why?

What is it about Mobley that demands so much ire/praise? I think it's because we're all instinctively doing what we hope someone else is doing.

The man seems able to get past just about anyone in the NBA and has no fear of taking it to the basket or taking the big shot. When that jumper is falling, at least 25-30 points are guaranteed. As fans we love that.

But: Sometimes the man just makes amazingly boneheaded plays. He will put up shots that can only be described as bad and completely unneccessary. Pure desire to take over the game seems to override common sense. He knows he has the talent, but can't recognize those times when the shot just isn't falling. Know what this reminds me of?

    A rookie.

Cuttino has only a few years in the league, but I think by now he should have learned enough to progress beyond this point.

Rudy considers Cat one of the best players out there and I don't think too many of us can disagree that his offensive output has kept us in several games. But his decision making needs to be improved. Perhaps Rudy is simply figuring that he'll learn in time, and it'll all work itself out.

Maybe, just maybe, someone needs to sit down with Cuttino and tell him exactly what he's doing wrong. Maybe that hasn't actually happened yet.

Can this be Mobley's problem? No one is there to simply tell him, "Hey, that was a stupid thing to do. Don't let it happen again."?

Ah, where's Charles Barkley when you need him?

Great post, although I was ready to punch you in the face for quoting Fran Blinebury on a basketball BBS. Don't let it happen again.

    I miss Charles, too! sigh

Fran got it wrong again. He said Hill went around Steve and Mo, when in fact it was SHANDON not Steve. No respect for that guy. I dont care if his column is supposed to spark controversy, anybody writer that brings negativity to a city about a team gets no respect from me.
