Car got keyed randomly in a grocery store parking lot .... its a 350Z and it stands out pretty obvious..... can a pro buff it out ... do i need to call insurance company... what i need to do..... it doesnt appear to be down to the bare metal.... Any ideas on a cheap place to get it buffed out at if thats what needs to be done... I would prefer to avoid paying car insurance deductible. thanks
That happened to me a few years ago on my accord. My car was looking pretty good at the time (rims, suspension, tint, etc etc). I spent the night at my ex-gf's house and when I woke up I saw my car has been keyed. I was pissed cause it's stupid and senseless. It would make more sense if someone broke into my car and took something than them just keying the crap out of my car. I just don't get why people do that kind of crap. Jealous maybe? It's r****ded and pointless.. Anyway if the scratch isn't that deep you may be able to buff it out. In my case the scratches were deep. The thing about paint repair on cars, you usually have to repaint the entire piece, regardless of the size of the problem; Whether if it's a bumper, door, fender, etc, you can't really spot-treat scratches. They'll have to repaint the entire piece. Each piece will run you anywhere from $200~$500 to repaint. Edit: By the way, Don't go to Maaco.. LOL. Your paint will eventually fall off - hehe jk.
i thinking keying someone's car is a ****ed up thing to do, but if i did it, this would be a good reason as any. can't stand morans who think they deserve the extra space.
I don't get it either man. Does It really give someone that much satisfaction to key a car? I view it as a p***y move. And yeah, Maaco is known as the "Fast food of body shops".
then again...who makes US the judge of parking lots? yah it sucks... but I am not going to go mess up anyone's car.
yeah, i rather throw a brick in the window or slash tires. i just don't like that sound of keys on the door.
Intentional key scratches can rarely be buffed out. Run your fingernail across it. If it catches, it needs to be refinished. If it doesn't catch, then it may be possible to color-sand and buff. Since you have a 350Z (and knowing that 350Z owners are "fanatical" about their cars), take it to Baker Jackson Nissan on 290 and talk w/ Mark Nichols in the body shop. They have the best Nissan body shop in town, and one of the best overall body shops in the area IMPO. Good luck.
my brother had the same thing done to his z350, and NO he was not parked in two parking spots....he had it custom painted for over $3000, rims/nizmo kit.......i';m assuming it was done out of jealousy.
I got my IS300 keyed up real bad back in high school, actually it happened twice. Had to get a full paint job so I went through insurance instead of shelling out a couple thousand.
You don't **** with someone's car. If you have a problem with the way the park, be a man and wait for them to come out and tell them something. Keying is a cowardly act performed by cowardly pricks.
I'm going to design a car made out of the material they make keys out of. Then maybe someone will paint my car out of spite.
i have never keyed anyone's car. i have left a note on their windshield saying, "hey dumbass, learn to ****in' park!" i've just never had the time to waste for them to come back to the car to see their reaction. i really can't stand the douche who takes up 1 and half parking spaces b/c you too damn lazy to repark.
