Alright, so I've been the victim of yet another vandalism on my car. This is getting really old. And what kind of p***y keys someone's car? It has to be the most cowardly thing someone can do, IMO.

Anyone know the best way to fix or clear up a keyed car? It isn't really bad, but considering I just bought the car less than a month ago, I'd like it taken care of ASAP.

Just claim insurance and take it to a shop. Insurance is not supposed to raise rates in case of vandalism like this. Of course take your deductible into consideration.

This happened to my new car last year in Midtown. It sucks.

I hate those bastards! Cowards at their finest. Depending on how deep the scratch is, you might be able to buff it out. Touch up paint works on little stuff but looks pretty ugly if you use a lot.

I'm not filing a claim on something this minor. It's a foot-long key mark on my passenger door. I've seen infomercials on touch-ups for these types of marks. ie. not deep, but still there. I was hoping someone had experience taking care of minor key marks.

i had this happen to me a few months ago.. deal is if you run your fingernail across it and your fingernail doesnt catch then it can be waxed out.. if you fingernail catches then it needs to be painted.. so what ya do is go tack it to you body shop of choice.. if the paint job is gonna cost more then say 600 dollars then claim it.. if less then 600 or so dont claim it.. simple as that.. good luck..

But really FFB, get some good "cleaner wax" then follow up with a good mild scratch remover wax, next use some liquid polish and finish it off with a high quality hard wax.. If it's not too deep it might be just a scratch on the clear coat and if it is the above process will more than likely get it out.. Let me know if you need recommendations on the products to use.

I had this happen to me earlier in the year,
I took it to one of the dentless repair places (you can find them in the yellowpages).

It cost me $125, which is not bad at all.

Yeah, I also thought you probably did something to deserve this.

Maybe you made fun of some guy's dead friend and he did not like it too much.

Go to your dealership and purchase touch up paint.

You can do it yourself, inexpensive, and the color will match perfectly.

Except you will be able to see the touch up paint.

Do the fingernail test like someone suggested earlier. If it catches, its in the finish. Key scratches usually going into the finish. Good news is, sometimes its only the clear coat, which can be color-sanded and buffed down to match.

The best thing to do is to take your keys and scratch a beautiful picture into your door.
