    Any mechanics on this board?

I took my car to a smog check this afternoon. It failed because the ignition timing was off. They said the reading of my car was 16 but it should be at 10 only. So I took my car to a garage nearby and had them reset it to 10 right away. But the smog check place had closed by then. So I have to wait until tomorrow to get my car retested.

Now the problem :( : the alarm of my car has gone off three times for no reason tonight. Is it possible that they messed up the alarm system when they tried to reset the ignition timing? I plan to call the garage tomorrow but I would like to know more about what might have gone wrong before I talk to them again.

I am a professional alarm installer.

The main reasons for false alarms are

    1) Sock sensor set to sensitive (which is what sets the alarm off when it’s bumped or hit)

    2) Weak battery, if the battery gets drained too low that will make the alarm start acting strange i.e. false alarming.

Now the mobile electronics industry, which is what I’m in, and mechanics and two completely different fields. I really don’t know what they do during a smog test, but the only way they could have caused your alarm to false alarm is draining your battery.

    Agent86-

Do you do side work? I'm having issues w/ my current alarm, and could use some reliable information.

I think it was not the smog test place. The problem has more likely been caused by the garage which I took my car to reset the ignition timing. Why do they have to drain the battery to reset the ignition timing? By the way, the battery of my car is almost brand new.
