i still have a sleeping disorder. ive been avg 3-4 hours a day or less for awhile now. why cant i get my 10-12 hours of sleep like everyone else -_-
I don't have a sleeping disorder, but I do have a weird ass sleeping schedule that tends to actually cycle throughout the day over about a week.
ME! Sometimes i sleep like 10-14 hrs a day... it's the weirdest thing. I'm in my last term of college so I scheduled classes so I wouldn't have class till 5pm on some days. My body wakes up at a decent time like around 9am or so and I can get out of bed if I need to do something before class but usually I just tend to go back to sleep so it's like I'm sleeping twice. But then again on days when I have a huge paper due or a midterm or final I'm usually pulling all nighters and just not going to bed at all. I guess I too can say I have a sleeping disorder. Considering its 4:35 AM pacific. Chow Yun Fat if you really want to go to bed because you have something to do the next day, take some tylenol PMs. they will knock you the F out. I guess once I find my real job after college I have to get used to a "regular" schedule ang go to bed and wake up at a "decent" time but until then I have no problems with my odd sleeping pattern.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
all i need to get to sleep real fast is a shot of crown. what also helps is not looking at the clock. when you're oblivious to what time it is, you're less likely to worry.
There have been studies, and some people need as little as five hours, some need much more. I need a good solid eight to be 100% the next day. I rarely sleep more than that, and my body won't let me sleep less if I have a choice. That said, 3-4 is way too little. I would try a few things. Do you work out? If not, try that. Heck, you can even buy some ankle weights to wear around the house for a few hours and it would probably help. Or even just take a short walk around the block. Your mattress may be old and bad for your back. Get a new one- It can't hurt. Speaking of backs, you may want to go to a chiropractor to get it checked out (but make sure you get word-of-mouth advice on who to go to, many of them don't know what they are doing). Also try changing/cleaning your AC filters....bad air=bad sleep. Try taking a long hot bath before bed. Try eating a lighter meal for dinner, like some grilled chicken and steamed veggies. If you're not digesting well, it could effect your sleep. There are MDs or psychologists that specialize in sleep disorders, and if you have insurance, it might be covered. Good luck- I know that there's few things worse for me than not getting enough sleep.
Read my post in this thread. Also, use mental exercise to help yourself fall asleep. As a golf fan, here's something that worked for me: I lay in bed with my eyes closed. I imagine playing the first hole on a golf course. "It's a long par 5, dogleg left, with fairway bunkers halfway down. My drive is a long and straight down the fairway. Now there's a pond before the green, so I lay up with an 8 iron, leaving an easy approach shot.." By the time I've gotten to the 4th hole, I'm out.
You should try some Melatonin...they're sleeping pills and it's all natural I believe..gets you drowsy in about 30 minutes or about an episode of the Simpsons
i imagine infinite space. it helps me sleep. i have no idea why...i guess because the concept is overwhelming and tires me out
sometimes i try and think of how huge my penis is. it helps me sleep. i have no idea why...i guess becsause the girth and length is overwhelming and it tires me out just thinking about....... .....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
10-14 hours of sleep??!! LOL, you college guys are in for a rude awakening once you get out and have to get a job in the real world. I usually average about 6 to 7 hours a sleep during the week but I try to get at least 8 on the weekends. However, 3-4 is definitely not enough. I should give you my textbook when I was in MBA school on labor unions. It was jammed pack with all kinds of labor legalese. I guarantee you that reading about 20 pages of that stuff would knock you out. That or a suppository..
for some reason, I feel drawn to this thread... Don't use the computer or work out before sleeping. DO have sex before sleeping. Do follow a regular schedule, Do read books to put you to sleep, Do play video games that have a lot of lapses in them (RPG's out me to sleep). If that doesn't work, hit the bottle.
