It would really depend on if Yao is healthy (obviously). If he is fully healthy (even if only playing 20-30 min), we would definitely be in the game. Then the constant issue we have been wondering about, interior defense and rebounding with the other players is still an issue. As big an issue as that is, I feel that Kevin Martin's play would be even bigger. While neither Lebron or Wade has been a great defender, they can now put more effort on this side of the ball. Can K-Mart handle that and still be effective? And of course, will he be more assertive with the ball this year after knowing the offense better? Lastly, who will he guard? He will have to guard one of the two, giving Ariza/Battier the latter. Brooks is too way too small, so will K-Mart step up on defense?
a good point on km's defense. i don't know how to solve the problem. i don't think he is strong enough to contain wade even he beefs up his defense.
We may be able to split the regular season games, but to beat them in a best of 7? Its just asking a lot out of Martin and Ariza to hang with Wade and Labron. Even if Yao holds his own against Bosh, and our other roles (Brooks, Scola) play their parts, just no way we can get enough stops in the 4th to beat that team 4 out of 7 games. No way. The only teams with a decent to good shot at beating them are the Lakers, Magic, Celtics, Mavs. Everyone else is not even conceivable imo.
I think we have a legit shot at beating the heat. The Rockets are gonna have to pound it down low the whole game. Feed it down to Yao, cause Wade and Lebron are gonna collapse because they love blocking shots. Once they collapase Yao kicks it out to Budinger, Battier, Brooks, and Scola for open jumpers. The Heat are not disciplined enough on defense to beat mentally strong teams. As long as the rockets play smart and play their game and style, i think they will be fine. As for defense... force as many jump shots as possible...Wade/Lebron are way less effective when they are settling for jumper. I cant wait for the season to start!
One last thing.... when we play the heat i say we go with a starting lineup of... Brooks Ariza Battier Hayes Yao for the sole purpose of defense...Ariza guarding Wade and Battier on LBJ
I luled. And you know you're trying too hard when Juwon Howard, James Jones, and Magloire are listed under "strength." Slow down the tempo, pack the paint on D, and make them a half court, jumping shooting team.
What a terribly written article... I don't think Lebron's the go-to scorer. He's going to attempt to be an evolutionary version of Magic Johnson.
Guard the paint like its Fort Knox, and let Yao, Brooks, And K-Mart make them pay for lolligagging on D. PG play is the key though!!
I think we can with solid defending and exploiting their weaknesses while on offense. AB can destroy Arroyo and Chalmers. Yao can destroy Z and Joel Anthony. It is possible but we need to have some great defense to lock down Wade and LeBron.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/Miami-Heat-strengths-and-weaknesses-LeBron-Wade-Bosh] This is the only part of this article that saves this thread from a quick trip to The Dish.
i was going to suggest this but i dont think adelman is very up for switching the starting lineup around like that even for one game. you never know though
ya i agree. i just dont think martin and scola are gonna be able to defend wade/bosh. battier and hayes need to be on the floor.
So what? You put the name of the team in your thread title, big whoop....the article itself is NOT about whether the Rockets can beat the Heat...and we have already had dozens of threads asking that same question.....but they happened three weeks ago. Plain and simple...this article is about the Miami Heat...NOT the Houston Rockets...and therefore really belongs in the Dish. The only saving grace you get is that in the latter part I quoted, the author mentions that the Rockets have aspects of their team that *might* prove difficult for the Heat to beat.
