Outside of Steve Francis and Yao Ming, can anyone on this team make a shot?

    Kenny Thomas: Brick
    Eddie Griffin: Brick
    Maurice Taylor: Brick
    Moochie Norris: Brick
    T. Morris: Brick
J Hawkins: Adequate shooter, can never finish the layup (Stop passing to him Yao)
    G. Rice: Hit or Miss depending on the game
    Mobley: See G. Rice

    1. There is no reason why anyone playing down low should not shoot at least 45%.

    2. There is no reason a SG or PG should miss a Wide Open jumpshot within 15 feet.

    3. There is no reason T. Morris should ever shoot the ball.

Steve hasn't exactly been lighting it up lately...Hopefully, his jumper will start falling again...

I just posted this in another thread.

    The team's FG% is 43.9%
    The team's FG% minus Yao is 42.2%
    Without Yao and Steve 41.4%

Jumpers don't go in as frequently as layups, someone should tell the players this, not that I would expect many of them to know how to get a layup, "No Cat, no Mooch, dribbling for fifteen seconds will usually result in another jumper and not the desired layup."

Just kidding, Rocket players do play really intelligent basketball and really know how to use passing and motion to setup their teammates. And no I would never blame the coaching:rolleyes:

Watching the rox's woeful shooting display in the last several games has been painful. While it's tempting to blame SF for his seemingly uncontrolled drives, I have to say we suck shooting-wise. Our overall FG% may not necessarily capture it, but our FG% of weakly contested or open shots must be among the worst in the league!!!

Some of those games were like college ball games with horrible clangers and misses. No wonder everyone wants to either watch Franchise drive to the hoop and hopefully do something spectacular or let Yao have and shoot the ball much more frequently.

I'm not convinced yet that SF is selfish towards Yao - I actually think he likes the big guy to go nuts when he knows Yao's having a good scoring night. I think SF is selfish towards all the other guys knowing that they can't shoot for peanuts or their zillion dollar contracts.

How can you call Hawkins an adequate shooter? He's worse than all the guys you labeled bricks.

juaqin hawkins cant shoot worth jack. i would take moochie, griff, or MOT over the Hawk for a wide open shot...

the only ppl that have a proven shot are

    mobley,
    francis
    ming
    rice
    and maybe nachbar

Nachbar can make a shot, but he ain't playing.

If the pathetic (or at best, inconsistent) shooting continues, this could be a long season for us. I'm trying to be optimistic, but I never thought we would be this poor this year.

If we get Yao shooting more often and cut the turnovers dramatically, it could still be a good season.
