I always wanted Cal to be the head coach of the Rocks. His insight and knowledge of the team is his greatest asset.
I like Calvin right where he is. He gets a bad rap from a lot of basketball-ignorant people, but he is in fact one of the highest hoops-iq guys out there, he just hides it pretty well under his enthusiasm, humor, and love of the game. It was kind of sad last year to see how even Calvin was being dragged down a bit by the frustration of the season. When your team makes even Calvin Murphy act frustrated and morose, then you know you have problems! No question Calvin would make a good coach somewhere, probably at the high school level, but his best calling is the job he currently has. He should stay right where he is. ciao
He's also not afraid to take the team to task when they're playing bad (unlike a certain "hall of famer" baseball broadcaster). Behind all the bad suits and chocolate chip cookies, he knows his shi'ite. Very under rated color man. He should stay right where he is.
I agree, Calvin has a very high basketball IQ. He is better off were he is. People dawg on him because they perceive him to be the ultimate homer.....but it's true as hell. I like him, and the games would not be the same with Bill and Calvin. Someday he might be a coach somewhere, but his temper is not the best it could be. Just my opinion.
