The most they can offer is in the 4.5-4.8 range. ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own...
If he is offered $22 million for 4 years, he is gone IF it is guarrenteed money. My guess would be that its NOT though, so who knows. The rockets are definatly being stingy. If they can pay him more, even if just for a nice 1 year deal then fine keep him on the team. But if they loose Hakeem to keep cash to resign AVERAGE role-players, thats a bad move. Even worse would be a sign and trade for some unspecatular player like montross and his long term contract. I dont think many of us expect the rockets to go to the finals with out Hakeem, so what does it matter if we loose a few mediocre players to keep Dream another season or 2. Just look forward to when Hakeem retires to having a LOT of cap room availible to persue free agents, and dont get saddled with some dumb stiffs (montross's) longer term deal. Priorites: 1. Resign Dream - what ever it takes - 2. Have a TON of cap room availible when he leaves - dont worry about this season so much 3. DONT get stuck with players we really dont want / need. - a trip to the finals is not likely, so lets lay low and keep our options open for when Hakeem retires a ROCKET. ------------------ -Irwin Fletcher
