This market is definitely the time to buy isn't it? Where would be a good spot to buy right now?

    Requirements:

    Beach front
Max 2-3 hour flight from Houston

    Los Cabos?
    Florida?
Caribbean? Though, I think it might be too far.
    Belize?
    Panama?

Reason for buying: to actually vacation there and for investment purposes.

San Antonio is always a good place to go every once in a while so you can realize how much better you have it living in Houston.

    He wants beachfront though!

Maybe the Cayman Islds....relatively depressed prices since the last hurricane hit.....not so far from houston since they're in the western carribbean...don't know if there's any direct flights from IAH though...

    Belize
    Costa Rica
Florida (aren't prices really low over there right now?)
    Cabo San Lucas

Those are all relatively close to Houston.

And no none of you bastards can come.

    R0ckets03,

I recently made some investments into the Texas Gulf Coast.

There's been a lot of recent funding to boost the beaches, and other natural resources there.

It's being dubbed the Third Coast, and with West and East coastal property being very expensive, the Texas Gulf Coast is growing rapidly. Prices are still reasonable.

Take a look at Port Lavaca, specifically Alamo Beach and Magnolia Beach. Excellent fishing, quiet, still affordable, and a 2.5 DRIVE from Houston. During the summer, I'm there every other weekend, fishing, relaxing, bbq'ing, sleeping on the porch enjoying the breeze from the bay.

edit: Also, check out Cape Caranchua.

Florida Keys, fly into Miami and it is an hour drive to the nothern most key. We stayed in a rental house that was for sale over Spring Break in Islamorada. It was just beautiful and the price was drastically reduced. $3.5 million down to $2.8.

I saw an episode of House Hunters that was focused on ocean front property in Belize and there were some beautiful ones. The prices were between 500k and 750k... but they were three/four bedroom homes.

If you are seriously thinking about it, I am sure there are Realtors in those areas that will be more than happy to help you look.

Bought one in Orlando... 1 hour and 1/2 from Cocoa Beach, minutes from WDW and Universal, across the street practically from SeaWorld.

Let me know if you wanna rent it out. ;)

    Sleeps 12
    Washer and Dryer
Full kitchen w/all utensils and dishes
    Pools on premises
small water park on premises, opens this May
    fishing on premises

Actually, you can't rent it out for more than a 3 night stay this summer... already booked up... but I have other connections.

    Yes, it's a time share. ;)
