hey all... just came back from my first boarding trip.

i'm an experienced skier and fairly competent boarder. does anyone have any good suggestions on what to look for in a snowboard? any brands?

i'm looking right now at an Option Redline, and a Forum Lander just for starters... if you have experience with these brands, please help!

    thx

Option is a great brand - and they tend to offer better value than others.

Forum and Burton are the only other options I would personally buy, but there are plenty of good companies.

The most important factors in choosing a board should be length and width. Length is subjective, as you might know. Longer boards offer more speed while shorter ones offer more control. Choosing a wide board is a necessity if you have big feet...which usually narrows my options down quite quickly.

As for bindings - Burton, Ride, and Drake are all great.
As for boots - Burton and Forum are the best in my opinion.

Obviously everything is subjective and once you find a brand you're comfortable with (as I have), you tend to be a bit biased.

My Burton Motion has lasted me 7 years so far with probably 1 or so more left in the tank.

I really like Burton - they are kind of the big industry board, but they are solid quality. I've got a little twin with carbon fiber bindings ... I should probably sell it actually...
