Hi fellas, well... I need your help. Me and the wife will be moving back to Houston in December, but its been a while since we've been there. We are looking for a new home, and need suggestions on new construction areas around town. Any ideas? Preferably Southwest, Fort Bend, Katy. Thanks! P.S. We're not super rich, we are looking for something equal to or less than $150,000
My wife is a realtor with Keller Williams and works on the West side of Houston and out in Katy. She can help you find what you are looking for, she helps people in that price range all the time. We actually just bought a house out in Katy ourselves. You can send her an email at angelabrown@kw.com and she can get you some info.
Stay away from KB Homes would be my first tip. You can find a nice house in your price range but you'll likely be out in the burbs. Tons and tons of new homes being built on or near the Grand Parkway in Fort Bend, which also has easy access to Westpark Toll road.
I looked into getting one once and had almost even bough one. I saw a lot of shoddy workmanship. Don't let the model homes fool you. If you get a chance, go to a site they are building on and go look at some of the homes being built after the workers have gone home. I usually try to stay out of the ones that are already sold though. The more I researched the more bad dirt I found. There are probably people on this board that have one and love it. If so, speak up. It just wasn't for us.
KB homes are the box houses that all look alike right??? if not, i hate those houses (cuz of their look). they're coming up everywhere. they're building a new neighborhoods everydays. im glad they're putting a lot of familes in affordable homes, but why do they all have to look the same!?!?
Man! You guys are really helping me out here. I really appreciate the support, and if you know any realtors let me know. Thanks!
Naw, I got it. As a matter of fact I have emailed his wife and am anxiously waiting a reply. Thanks for looking out though
THere are a crap load of new houses being built off of the westpark tollway and 1464. Its fort bend, near bush highschool.
Run, don't walk, from any home with the KB name on it: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/05/tx_kb_homes.html http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2005/kb_homes.html http://www.kbhomestink.org/default.asp http://www.hobb.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=582&Itemid=260
O.k. I know that KB homes suck. What about the great homes. Which builders are out there that are great. I am looking for military friendly realtors if possible. Thanks!
I work for Lennar and we have a TON of Communities in Katy in your price range: LINK I would be more than happy to help you set up appointments if you would like. You can email me at: drew.miller@lennar.com
KB homes is one of the many tract home builders in Houston. They are boxy and the same basically because they are builing in volume. They are able to sell cheap houses because they are a big company that can buy land in big "tracts" (hence the tract home name). They then scrape everything off the land in one big job, cut in streets and build the same 4-5 houses over and over again. Most of the big name home builders operate on the same model. DR Horton, Royce, Emerald, Centex, David Powers, Lennar ect. 10 years ago you could find true custom homes in the 200s, but the tract home builders have pushed them out of that market, so 95% of any new construction homes under 250K or so is going to be a tract home builder. That's not saying they are bad homes, many of them build nice stuff, but keep in mind that is the business model they use. Some build nicer, more upper end stuff, some do not. Some even start putting houses into the price range of custom homes and call them "custom."
$ 150,000? what kind of home? If your looking for a typical home with a yard and garage and a 3/2/2... Your looking way outside.. for a brand new home. You can find homes for that price brand new but those will be in a not so good neighborhood like middle of alief... They have a whole bunch of KB homes for sale.
Don't mean to hijack the thread but I was wondering what price house I could get that $950 a month would be enough to cover ALL the month to month charges that you would normally pay for. Any ideas?
