Even when it happened, response time was agonizingly slow. We didn't even have many interceptor aircraft in that part of the country; other countries, when planes go off their flight path, send fighters up immediately. Payne Stewart's plane got a far swifter reaction than did 9/11. If Bill Clinton had been President during 9/11, the right would have crucified him. George Bush the Lesser turns into a hero, and his actions on the day do not speak of heroism, and his actions since even less so. How many civilians have we killed in the so-called war on terror, just to sate our sense of frontier justice?
