Not a very auspicious start... ROME, Italy (CNN) -- Amid tight security measures, thousands of demonstrators marched through Rome on Friday to protest the visit of President Bush to Italy and that country's participation in the war in Iraq. Protesters swarmed the streets of central Rome after Bush met with Pope John Paul II, one of the strongest critics of the war. Police estimated the number of demonstrators at 500,000.
Rome is full of a bunch of Communists. Seriously, I walked through Piazza de Popolo when there was a Red fest going on. My buddy and I were like, snicker snicker, crazy commies. We then proceeded to climb the hill to Borghese Gardens and there Pringles was having what amounted to a capitalist fest to counter the communist fest. It was great, fun games, free frisbies, hats, hot girls serving you pringles and soda, skateboarding, snowboarding....ahhh the joys of the free market....
nothing suprising about this.. it is amazing how hard it can be to be an american these days while in other countries.. they are not happy and when i tell them i am from texas-- ouch (GWB) world allies after 911 to this........
After Sept. 11, 2001, Italy would have sucked us off if we asked them to. Now, they're rioting in the streets when Bush visits. If that doesn't crystalize Bush's foreign policy, I don't know what does.
