Bskball.com Mo report

I was at bskball.com to quote something on the ABA2000, and I know there are tons of Mo threads, but I thought this made a lot of sense. So here it is:

08/16-SEATTLE FIRST, HOUSTON SECOND- For Maurice Taylor this summer has been an awakening. He trusted in his agent that his value would stay up, while the Clippers everyday look smarter and smarter for not signing him to the maximum extension he and David Falk demanded. Taylor has done the tango with 6 different NBA teams this summer and now seems settled on two. The Sonics top his list, but the hold up there is Taylor wants to the Sonics to make a sign and trade deal with the Clippers, so he can get a reasonable contract and get the security he wants.. The other option, and according to Clippers sources may be the real option, is Maurice will sign a 1 year deal in Houston for their $2.25 million exception, under the promise of a bigger deal when the Rockets get under the cap next summer. The Sonics have been fishing for a number of deals with reports from Tacoma yesterday saying they were after Jahidi White from Washington, but Wizards source remind us that White can not be traded for 3 months now, and that even after 3 months the Wizards will not trade him. The Sonics have looked at Ike Austin, but came to their senses. There was also mention of Anthony Mason, and that's just silly-- Mase needs Riley to resurrect his image, and Riley needs guys that now his system. The Sonics have also talked about a 3 way through the Clippers where Ruben Patterson (a player they'd really like to keep) would be sent off in a deal to land Taylor in Seattle, but again the Clippers say they will not pick up any new contracts. Unless the Clippers change their tune, a deal through LA seems unlikely and almost improbable. The Rockets on the other hand do need another front court player, and with Hakeem ready to retire after this season, and the huge increase the salary cap is expected to take next summer. The Rockets could be in a great position to reward Taylor if he can be a great player in Houston. Either way for Houston its a win/win, if Taylor works out they can sign him for his worth, if not they can let him walk which may suit Taylor better as many teams will have caproom, and there are very few serious players in the next crop of Free Agents. Don't rule Seattle out just yet, because they are working, but the smart money say Mo Taylor will be a Rocket, and we could hear about it any day.

Why don't you try reading the other threads before you decide to start a "NEW" one.

I thought I'd contribute some more mindless drivel to the conversation concerning Mo Taylor.

First off, what is the main player that Seattle is talking about trading, as the "centerpiece of the deal". None other than our buddy Ruben Patterson. Now, what position does Ruben play? Small Forward. Can't play Shooting Guard, can't shoot well, or dribble well enough. Can't play Power Forward, not big enough, and isn't much of a big time post player, he's strictly a SF. Now, why would he fit on a team, that already has not 1, not 2, BUT 3 potential mega superstars that all play SF (Odom, Maggette, Miles)? Uh, he wouldn't. McCoy is now a Sonic for good, that throws out the possibility of him. Would the Clippers want Horace Grant's big contract? Probably not. So how about that Stepania, Vernon Maxwell and Greg Foster? Who else can Seattle give them? Brent Barry sure ain't gonna be a Clipper again. Baker a Clipper? Ha. That leaves left on the list Shammond Williams, hardly someone the Clippers would want enough to take on an extra 3.5 mill to get. After his camp, why would Seattle trade him? And why would the Clippers further hurt their chances by taking on an undersized SG?

If you're gonna go undersized, you gotta go undersized PF, Kenny Thomas. I just want the best for Kenny, really, I do. [IMG]
