What browser do you guys use?

I've been using IE, but I'm thinking of switching to Avant or Opera. Any thoughts?

There has only been about 15 threads about this over the last month. Go back through and reread them.

Recall any of the thread titles? I looked for threads beginning with "Browser" or "Opera" or "Netscape" or "Preferred" in the past 100 days and found nothing.

    Thanks for the link, Vengeance.

I use Opera and Internet Exploder. Some things Opera just doesn't do right. And some sites are not compatible with Internet Exploder. Opera is nice because it has tabbed web pages and can remember your last session but there are separate tools to do that as well to cache stuff for you.

Have you tried the newest nightly builds? 0.8 should be here any time now, and WOW, will it be awesome. I didn't know they could make Firebird better, but somehow it was done.

Don't fight it... everyone knows Microsoft rules. IE, baby. ;)

Oh yeah, and Safari's pretty cool, too.

Is Firebird stable? I heard that it was slow, unstable, had bugs that need to be worked out and that 1.5 was better. I downloaded 1.6 now and like it, but if Firebird is better, I'll try it out.

I haven't had any problems with Firebird. I use both Firebird and IE. I wish Microsoft would put tabbed browsing in Win XP Service Pack 2, but it doesn't look like it's even crossed their minds.

I've had it crash once in almost 8 months of using it exclusively. Slow? HARDLY. It renders faster than IE, starts almost as quickly, and the extensions just make it flat out awesome! It's unstable only in that it's not a 1.0 version. But frankly, it's one of the most mature, stable programs I've ever used.

Just give it a shot. I was skeptical at first too, having loved Mozilla for years. I decided to try it once and I was hooked instantly. I've loaded it on all my family's computers, and it's the only browser they use too.

Installed Firebird, and I am definitely SOLD. Thanks for the recommendation, Vengeance. Firebird is VERY nice.

One little detail. How can I set it so that a new tab will open the previous window instead of a blank window? I looked through options and help, and couldn't find an answer to that. I'm sure it's really simple.

You mean like open a new tab in the current browser window? Download the TabBrowser Preferences extension. That will give you the ability to do it.

Glad you enjoy it :) I honestly don't know how I'd browse with anything else . . . BTW, download the Pinball skin. IMO the VERY BEST.

Oh, to get to download extensions and skins, go to "Tools->Options", and it'll be one of the menu choices.

Wow, I just downloaded this and I must say that I am impressed so far. I have been using IE for the past 5 years, but Firebird may change that soon. Web pages seem to load a hell of a lot faster when I'm using it.

I prefer Avant Broswer, basically a IE plugin but still great to use.
