Golf nut here. I generally spend 2-4 hours each morning working on my game before work. It's paying off....slowly. I'll watch the Open if I'm not off playing. Good luck on your game Mrs. JB...we need more estrogen on the golf courses.
Mrs.JB: A couple more things about the Natural Golf. I don't think I made myself clear. 1. Natural Golf sells their own golf clubs. The grips are oversized and gripping the club is really different-- but more natural. You really couldn't grab a set of clubs at a store and use them to play NG. Some of the specs are different and it matters-- believe me, I've tried it. I don't believe the sell their clubs in outlets. Check the website. 2. When I mentioned finding an instructor, you would want a certified NG instructor. Not just anyone can do it. If you listen to the philosophy behind their teaching, it is very convincing. Traditional golf instruction overcomplicates matters and doesn't take good advantage of natural instincts. But the traditional golf swing is very rooted in the golf culture (equipment, lessons, imitation, etc) and it is tough to displace... kind of like the petro-chemical industry! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The story of NG is very interesting. Moe Norman was an autistic young boy who lived near a golf course growing up in Canada. He took solace in hitting golf balls for hours upon end. He figured out his own swing (never a lesson) and grew up to be a professional golfer and win several championships. His is regarded as one of the best ball-strikers around-- now in his late 60s perhaps. NG is the outreach of those converted to Moe's form. Actually, I have a set of clubs in Houston at my brother's office. If you would like to grab them and fool around with them, let me know and we can arrange it. His office is over on Washington. They might be too long for you (being that I'm about 6'2") and you're not as I recall!
I find I enjoy work much more if I do. It makes me feel better about my job that it lets me do that, and being outdoors for 2-4 hours per day makes you feel great all by itself.
anyone else surprised at the beautiful weather in Scotland today? no rain, no wind? and to think Tiger had a subpar day, but still shot -1... incredible!!!
I played in a 2 day 2 man best ball tourney this past weekend, and I'm playing in a couples Chapman this weekend. Yeah, I'm a golf junky. Bob Finn, I don't think that I knew you were a golfer before. If you're ever out west, we should try to get together for a round. Gutter Snipe, what is your morning routine? One of my good friends back in Houston starting playing last year. He goes to the driving every morning before going into work. He is almost obsessive. Takes lots of lessons. I talked to him 2 weeks ago & he had just posted his best score of 93. That's pretty good considering his age and how long he's been playing. I will try to catch what I can of the Open this weekend. Mrs. JB, good luck. It's a great pasttime.
