Wang played PF back in Chinese national team when Yao played as a center. Here is the reason: 1. Wang is cheap. 2. Clipper has no use of him. Clipper want him to play center and post up. But since Wang played with yao in the national team, he wanted to play PF more. Maybe more so since he played with Dirk. He obviously wanted to be the next Dirk or Irk if you saw him play. 3. The competition between 2 of the best Chinese players will get more out of them. 4. Chinese will be happy since Houston is training half a team for them. They will forgive wang just because he team up with Yao and improve. 5. Wang is cheap, did I mention that? 6. ... 7. And profit! The downside? 1. Wang is still slow at his position. but he does score. 2. Wang is 27 and still not a star in NBA standard. But this team is already filled with stars. Role players are needed. 3. Wang might has trouble with Yao toke all the glory. Has to get Wang's opinion first.
Everytime I see or hear Wang Zhizhi, I can't stop smiling because I remember a sign in one of Dallas' games last year saying "<i>We've got the biggest Wang in the world</i>" Wang sucks by the way.....lets pick him up!!!! How can pass up the biggest Wang in the world??!!
Wang sucks just because he got Yao's first 5 NBA games PT throughtout wang's NBA carrer. If you search all the Mavs' boards, everybody was talking about wang's potential. The guy got talent! No rocket forward can shot. Wang cannot defense. that is the tradeoff.
No, Wang sucks because he's a slow, fat 7 footer who cant rebound, pass, score down low, play defense or block shots. His only use is to stand at the 3 point line and shoot 3 pointers. He's lucky to have a job.
NO Absolutely NO! If Yao is lonely, get the Houston Comets to draft Yao's girlfriend. Wang is the absolute worst! The guy can't exploit his size at seven feet. And even as a shooter, he's a third string shooter at best. Moreover, when you buy cheap, you usually get what you paid for He has limited upside, if at all, and belongs on a sub 500 team where he might actually get a chance for more minutes. Dallas gave him a shot, but it was clear that Wang was no Nowitski. Oh, and did I mention? NO!!! theSAGE
That's true, he never had the opportunity to play to improve in the right system...any player who's over 7 foot with a great shooting touch will have potential...I've seem him play several games and he just doesn't seem impressive to me... <i>If Yao is lonely, get the Houston Comets to draft Yao's girlfriend. </i> I second that!
BWAAHAHAHA. Yup. I completely agree. Wang has a nice three point shot but, realistically, he's a sh!tty NBA player. Yao on the other hand.....all star material baby
NO ...NO ....NO thank you. We dont have any room for players that have game like Wang. we have our own right now.
Though I am a Chinese, I would say, Wang is only like 40% of Eddie, so Rockets have no room for him. Plus, it sounds stupid to bring people speaking Chinese in the team, cuz Yao's second job in these years is learning English. Yeah, tons of guys on this forum are saying "oh, Yao speaks fluently", man, stop it, we need him to be perfect on language in a short period of time, maybe when he ends up 15 years in Houston, he will become the very very very first Chinese coach in NBA, can't imagine he can do that with a translater!
Wang is one of many would have beens that have entered the NBA. He would have became a good player, but never really was given the opportunity. Also he's been screwed by Chinese basketball authorities, once during his youth when they stunted his creativity, then once more when they punished him this past summer for trying to improve himself during the offseason.
sure lets get him as long as it takes kenny thomas and only kenny thomas to get him. houston trades: kenny thomas clipps trade: wang zhizhi, and 1st round pick
wang could be a very good player. he just need an opportunity with right team. he has all the offensive tools. he is a scoring threat from anywhere on the court. his problem is defense and rebounding. this limits his playing time. dont count him out yet. hes got plenty of offensive skills.
