Obviously there are profound shake-ups in the Rockets future, I propose that we drop Eddie & Cat for Vince and any big body. The reason is simple, we need a scoring threat who doesn't need to hog the ball to be effective and can provide steadiness. Although Yao does this, our backdoor tandem negates his play because they are iso-players. One iso-player is o.k. but two are murder to offensive cohesiveness. Vince would flourish not having to be the man, he could play a Scottie Pippen type role. For Toronto, a change is necessary, I think they've soured on living or dying with Vince. Gaining Mobely would leave them with a solid scorer who may flourish with a green light. Eddie G. is still viewed as a future star by many (not me), Toronto should be willing to bet on his upside and Cats proven productivity. The Rockets should shorten their big man rotation trading Eddie leaves Mo, Yao, and Cato to play up front. Obviously there is a need to add another big body, but those three should be the primary rotation. Yao Taylor Posey Carter Francis That team makes the play-offs today and creates matchup problems for most teams. Of course so does adding the Mailman.
You got to be kidding right? Vince is a decent player with a Max contract. Vince is a good offensive player but he is a liability on the defensive end. He is also soft. Although, I would like to have Vince, he is not worth the price tag.
That trade won't happen, but I'd trade Mobley and Griffin for Alvin Williams and Mo Peterson. A well rounded guard to compliment Francis and a shooter to compliment Yao. Think they'd do it?
what r utalking about. vince dosen't need to ballhog. r u kidding. this guy gets all his points from jumpshots and few dunks. the guy is soft as jello. I think we should go after jerry Stackhouse if the price is right.
Why would toronto do this? Once again its the overevaluation of the rockets talents and the under of other teams.
You got to be kidding right? Lets compare Mobley and Vince: Statistics: Below I have highlighted what I believe are the important statistics. They both take about the same amount of shot attempts but Carter has a higher field goal percentage and Points Per Shot out put. This means Carter is the more efficient player considering the other statistics are some what similar. Another statistic which is intresting is that Carter does all this in less amount of time. Beyond the Statistics: Anyone who watched Carter this season knows he was injured. His stock has decreased a lot over the last two seasons. Carter is a good shooter and relied to much on his outside shot. Perhaps it was because he lost some of his explosiveness, which allowed him to get to the rim so easily due to injury. Whatever the case, he is still much better then Mobley when healthy. However, Carter is injured and he has a max contract. If Carter had a similar size contract as Mobley I would trade in a heartbeat. Carter is clearly the better outside shooter of the two and that is what this team needs. Perhaps, the biggest difference is that Carter get his points often being guarded by 2 defenders. How would Mobley do with multiple players trying to contain him? This I would like to see. Wait, we did see that last year... How did I forget, oh yes, Mobley was first options...well you remember how many wins we got. For all of Mobley’s short comings he is a better defender then Vince Carter. But that isn't saying much considering most shooting guards in the league are better then Vince at defense. You might be right, but I highly doubt it, perhaps Toronto is shopping Carter but I think that would be a huge mistake considering Carter is 1) One of the most popular players in the league 2) Is the only Franchise player they have therefore gets favorable calls from the refs. Mobley Minutes Per Game = 41.7 FGM = 7.1 FGA = 16.3 FG adjusted = .468 Points Per Shot = 1.3 Steals = 1.32 Blks = .51 TO = 2.3 Rebounds 4.1 Vince Carter Minutes Per Game = 34.2 FGM = 8.3 FGA adjusted = 17.7 PG adjusted = .497 Points Per Shot = 1.16 Steals = 1.12 Blks = .33 TO = 1.7 Rebounds = 4.4
Yeah...that's just what the Rockets need, an injury prone player to become our "Grant Hill". Thanks but no thanks.
Vince Carter is injury prone. Why trade 2 decent players for a player that is going to ride the IR? Also, he doesn't have the game to complement the big man in the middle.
I didn't think that Carter would be a good fit on this team. But comparing Carter to Mobley is ridiculous. These 2 are not comparable. Carter, even being injury prone, being labled soft, is still a superior player to Mobley. Please give me a single reason why Toronto would do this trade (actually as someone pointed out, the trade would not work in reality as the salaries don't even match). Yeah giving away their biggest crowd attraction for a 28-year-old non-All-Star SG and a no-name PF? Toronto fans would be pissed and not go to the arena, no doubt.
We need a PG/veteran leader. Gary Payton is the answer. If you think we have the goods to bring in Vince Carter, then we definitely have the goods to bring in Payton. He's got a good 2 years left in him to force some good habits into this team, and has a 3rd year as a 3rd wheel for the team, being the coach on the floor and being in the player's ears. Milwaukee wouldn't mind having Griffin, Cato, MoT (if we take Mason or Caffey off their hands), or maybe even a young prospect like Boki, or a backup PG like Moochie for the ageing Cassell. We definitely need Payton. I'm confident that he wil lead us to contention for 2 seasons, and by the time the 3rd season arrives, Francis will have hopefully learned enough from him to be able to handle the PG spot adequately. Maybe some defense too. Payton: PG, leader, veteran, defense, complimentary offense, respected around the league. Everything we need. We don't need big men, we have Yao, and his partner can be a Minimum signing for all we care. We don't need SF's, Posey is showing good improvement and we have 2 young, budding prospects in Boki and T-Mo. Francis will handle the 2, and we're overstocked on the bench. It's time to trade quantity for quality. You think Payton won't last long, but his imprint will show on the team for years and years.
Sherlock...Did you even see him in his last few games before he came down on someone's foot and injured his ankle? He was still, according to the team, 100%, and was outjumping everyone...just exploding. I think it's waaay too early to write off his knees...He's had one semi-significant knee injury that he tried to play through, and he strained the other one over compensating when he came back from the 1st, understandable given that, unlike most athletes, he had never had an injury before, of any kind, let alone to his knees. As for as this trade, it's ridiculous to suppose that the Raptors would even think of it.
