Last night at the game i looked up they had a damn stat for one of the Cubs players. It was like Career stats after the 7th inning with 2 outs....i was like you got to be kidding me.
berkman is 5 for 24 getting the runner home with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs? i didn't know it was possible to be that bad. i mean i could probably get the guy home 6 times just on horribly hit knubbers that they couldn't get to fast enough. and lance was 11 for his last 63 coming into this game with 1 HR and 6 RBI. it's about time he started giving us at least something again except walks.
he's not even that good. that's how many times he's gotten the guy home, which you can do with a sac fly or a well placed grounder, in addition to a hit. i mean i've never seen anyone even close to that bad when they flash that stat.
Palmerio is a very good pinch hitter but he has struggled lately while starting. Bring up Luke Scott who hit 2 more homers last night.
and since they just brought up how good our top 3 are again, doesn't anyone know where they stand on that Runs Prevented stat now? i remember they were around 160 a few weeks ago which was well ahead of anything any other top 3 had ever done but oswalt has been slipping recently and pettitte finally slowed up a little. of course, clemens is on about a 27 inning scoreless stretch (how the hell does he do it!) so maybe we're still on pace.
look how the brewers took advantage of opportunities. they get virtually no one on all night and as soon as they do they get 4 runs out of it. meanwhile we blow chance after chance after chance. but we're the astros, that's what we do.
