I view him as the Anderson Varejao of college basketball in terms of I can't stand him. I could definitely see the Jazz taking him.
Everyone and their momma knows that Duke got every call against Baylor. There is no bitterness from this Baylor fan though. I thoroughly enjoyed this season.
Your horns really did good, Im getting the broom ready for the sweep next year as well.. We could of easily beat any of those teams in the Final 4. Butler by at least 10 imo.
You make far too many opinions as facts. Physical play isn't dirty. Flopping is. There's a difference, and I don't think the Rockets are a particularly bad flopping team. And yes, I would mind it if they were. If Derek Fisher, for example, was a key rotation player for the Rockets, I wouldn't care as much about that team. Even if they won a championship. For some people, it's not just about winning and losing, but also how you play the game. I'd ditch a team in a heartbeat if they resorted to tactics of which I don't approve. And yes, what a better team Duke was last night. If Hayward's shot is maybe a inch shorter, or has a centimeter more arc, Butler wins that game. Wow, they were definitely the better team and it "showed". Nobody's saying Duke didn't deserve to win, but that was as evenly matched a game as you'll ever find, and to try to spin it as one team proving their superiority - that's as pathetic as it gets (since you used that term).
Wow. If you want to talk pathetic, nothing is more pathetic than fans who throw out the "bitter/can you do anything besides blame the refs" line to avoid discussing the specifics of the situation. You're damn right he's bitter, and he has a reason to be. Hell, I'm a Mizzou/UT fan and I'm still bitter on Baylor's behalf! Nothing wrong with being bitter if there's a good reason to be...
I don't think he was trying to injure him, no. But honestly, I'd rather a lack of consistency, if it means 50% of the calls being good, than a consistency in nearly 100% of the calls being bad. I know I may be in the minority on that, but I'm a big fan of the fundamentals of the game, and it kills me watching drives to the bucket in college ball and the offensive fouls that almost always accompany them. I don't approve of it at all, and I resent teams that try to take advantage of the situation. Play the game like it's meant to be played, not to the weaknesses of officials.
It looks like the tide is shifting imo.. You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to The Cat again.
where was the consistency on howard's last three fouls? all three were ticky-tack in a game where they were letting a lot of stuff go. including howard getting thrown to the ground by douchebek (see what i did there?) with 20 seconds left that should've been a 1-and-1 for him.
You and I obviously have differences in the way we judge teams based on how they win. I don't mind a team playing the way they play as long as they win. You do what it takes to win... you obviously don't agree with that so that's OK with me. Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Blaming the refs... and then assuming you beat teams... it's called being a SORE LOSER. To what? I'm not a Duke fan. I never was, I never will be. It's just stupid to see Baylor and Butler fans resort to officiating... There were bad calls.... but Duke won. If you're going to sit there and say officiating did effect the outcome of the game, you simply don't know anything about basketball. Why complain about the officiating if it didn't matter?
shooting a free throw when down 1 with 20 seconds left doesn't possibly change the outcome of a game? really?
Why are you looking at just one missed call? Why don't you look at the whole game? Wouldn't Duke's game plan changed if they were down, from all the FTs that supposedly Butler should've gotten? You guys have at it. I'm done debating about officiating. I'm a hypocrite for blaming the refs after a game, but I certainly don't believe the outcome of a game is based on just officiating, even if it's a close game.
If you're going to definitively claim you know the officiating had nothing to do with the result, you either know nothing about basketball or are extremely biased. Hayward had 3 points taken away from him on a "charge" where Scheyer was both in the restricted area and slid in late. A few minutes earlier, Scheyer tipped in a ball hanging on the left side of the rim - as obvious an offensive goaltend as you'll ever see. There's +5 for Duke right there, on officiating. What was the final margin again? (No, I'm not saying there weren't bad calls the other way, and I'm not saying the officials single-handedly won this game. But to arrogantly claim that there's no way officiating may have had an impact on the result is just silly.)
as a Dukie (but first and foremost a Rockets fan  ) I can honestly say that you do not want Zoubek on the Rockets team :haha: he is injury prone (just like Yao) and sat out most of his first 3 years due to a broken bone in his foot. he is not very agile and his only real strength (if you can call it that) is his height. don't get me wrong, he's a tremendously hard worker and a great, great guy...but he's not going to get you much in a game...
Agreed -- absolutely terrible calls. Scheyer slid in to Hayward's path as the contact was made. It was an obvious block. A 3-point play at that juncture in the game would've swung the momentum in Butler's favor. Coach K whines excessively and manipulates the referees as much, if not more, than any coach in the country. He definitely uses his legacy to intimidate the zebras (which is very smart on his part).
Love to give Zoubek a look. He's improved over his career. He plays hard. He rebounds. He even has decent form on his free throws! He has no "ups" so he is a Mini-Ming.
