    Veteran assistant Boylen completes staff
    Posted: July 3, 2004
St. Francis - The Milwaukee Bucks hired Jim Boylen as an assistant coach on Saturday, filling the final vacancy on coach Terry Porter's staff.

Boylen, entering his 13th season in the National Basketball Association, replaces Jim Todd, who was named an assistant under Sam Mitchell with the Toronto Raptors on Friday. Boylen was the second Bucks assistant named in as many days; longtime NBA player Jerome Kersey, a former teammate of Porter, was hired Friday.

Boylen spent last season as an assistant to Eric Musselman with the Golden State Warriors. Prior to that he had an 11-year stint with the Houston Rockets, the final seven of which were as an assistant under coach Rudy Tomjanovich.

A native of East Grand Rapids, Mich., Boylen began his coaching career as an assistant at Michigan State in 1987. In 1989, he worked on the same staff with eventual Marquette University coach Tom Crean.

"He's a very dedicated and experienced coach, and I know he'll have a positive impact on our players," Porter said in a press release.

I wonder if this means Rudy is not going to get the Lakers job for sure.

Funny, but I thought of that, too. As well as meaning Rudy would, in fact, sit out the second year, as he previously stated.
