I hate this kind of crap with a passion. Do you really think the NBA wants Kobe Vs Lebron in the Finals so much to the point that they would rig games? Give me a break that's ridiculous. If it were truly about marketing, then why in the hell wouldn't the NBA want the rockets in the finals. Yao? Hello, he's global. Do you know how many freaking people there are in CHINA? If it were truly about marketing, and the NBA were rigged, then it would be in FAVOR of Houston.
Kobe is actually more popular in a global market, especially in China. Rig was a bad choice of a word I should have said influence.
I think the problem with NBA refs is not that they make bad calls. There is some truth when they keep saying how hard it is to officiate this game. The problem is their egos. They have become part of the game. Which sport's fans need to check who the refs are before games? That just shows you the refs have become part of the game. And they shouldn't. They should be a non-factor. They should be nobodies. Yet, some of them have big egos like the players and coaches. I think they should have psychological screening for refs. People who have big self-importance complex should be disqualified.
I think what happens a lot is that we focus on the 'bad calls', when we should be pointing out everytime the refs make 'good calls', which is frequent.
I missed it. I only saw Ron's reaction afterwards. I needed the replay to see Kobe actually wind up and deliver the elbow. Refs have to make these calls in real time, and they need to have an eye on multiple spots on the court. Sometimes calls will be missed.
"Boycott" suggests I would eventually return to watching. I'm not inclined to stop following the NBA, but if I did stop because I felt the refs were too corrupt or too incompetent, I wouldn't be coming back.
One bad call can alter the outcome of the game. And you say 5 bad calls out of 50 good calls are acceptable? I'm afraid you're missing the point. Worst case, they should put one referee per pair.
not necessarily real-time. that kind of violation that Kobe did to Ron can be handled after the game. He deserves a suspension.
well if the games are causing headache instead of fun to the OP, that's not overreacting - that's a good thing to do or suggest. I guess the best thing to do if you can't handle such calls is to record the game and watch it if the outcome is good.
Let's do the NFL while we're at it. That league is chocked full of muscle laiden, super human, angry grown up men. I gotta laugh when baseball gets all the publicity when steroids in the NFL is almost definitely more prevalent.
