Tonight on HBO Who you got? Both fighters have some knockout power. I'll take Hatton just to pick a guy. Castillo wasnt very impressive in his last fight. Hatton wasnt either, but i believe he was fighting as a lightweight. I think it's gonna be a great fight. Who you got on this one? It's gonnna be a brawl. Hatton with the KO to stay undefeated
I think hatton is gonna take this.I f castillo presses him and turns this into a brawl, hattons in a world of trouble.
I'll pick Hatton too, like Nice Rollin said, just to pick somebody. Both fighters are "talented brawlers", and either one could win tonight. I'm picking Hatton because I think he has .00001% more heart than Castillo. If this fight lacks action, there is something wrong with the universe. It should be very entertaining. I'm so excited, cuz I got the night off. My GF's folks are coming in town tonight, so she's busy. I might have to fire up the grill and do up a nice steak and ice down some Heinekens for this fight.
Hatton has a better chin than Castillo but just slightly. Aggressiveness (sp? it looks long) is similar.. its going to make a for a great fight.. i hope.
Castillo has never been knocked down, Hatton has...I'd say their chins are at least equal, if not slight edge to Castillo.
i never bought into the he's never been knocked down thing......He was ready to go in the corrales fight until the referee stepped in.
i'm sure hes been knocked down SOMETIME during his life. Plus I don't really think chins are going to play a big part in the fight seeing as how they are both pretty equal in that department like i said earlier. What will be the difference is the aggressiveness, whoever fights moving backward will lose the fight. Neither one of them fight well when moving back. Hatton will probably win this fight though, by TKO or by decision.
I hear you on that argument, but the fact that he does have a good chin and won't go down is what cost him that fight and makes him fun to watch. If he didn't have such a great chin, he could have gone down, taken a knee, recouped a little, and would have won that round cause he knocked Corrales down twice and Diego had a point taken away for spitting out his mouthpiece. He was exhausted and hurt, and wasn't as smart as Corrales, so he lost. I think Castillo is past his prime, and Hatton will take this, but I'm pulling for Castillo. PS...i've been up all night and need some sleep so ignore my ramblings. Also...tonight is the Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale BJ Penn vs Jens Pulver, thank god for the DVR.
I dislike Hatton due to him being a manchester city fan and me loving man.united but i gotta go with him on this.
the HBO guys called it right - JLC was shot and mailed it in. All due credit to Hatton, though, he worked hard and deserved the win. He is a likable guy and the best at Jr. Welter for the time being.
I'd love to see Hatton move back up in weight and fight pretty boy, I just don't see it happening though. Hatton along with Corey Pavlik are my two favorite guys to watch at the moment, so I'd love to see one of them in a mega fight with either Mayweather or Taylor.
Unfortunately Mayweather won't fight again unless its a rematch with Oscar.. which I hope does not happen. Even if he does fight, he won't take on anyone like Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, Williams or Mosely. He would probably take on someone like... Luis Collazo or someone weaker who he can dominate. Mayweather would have never taken the Oscar fight if Oscar was in his prime.l
One thing I have never understood is the infatuation with DLH, he was a good fighter, but never a great fighter. Look at his losses: Mayweather- 1 Mosley- 2 Hopkins- 1 Trinidad- 1 Two wins against Vargas don't mean squat, Mayorga win was a marketing ploy, and the two wins against JCH was at the end of his career. To say that DLH could have beat Mayweather in his prime is baseless, especially because Mayweather is actually an excellent fighter. My hispanic friends glorify this guy and never have any rebuttals when I mention his losses. Moreover, Mosley, Hopkins, and Trinidad were all excellent fighters of you time, that whole weight class was solid to say the least, and he didn't beat any of them! While DLH is a good fighter, I consider him to be a better marketer and glad that he has capitalized on that. So can we just settle on the fact that he is a good and not great fighter.
and he should have lost to Felix Sterm and two other "big" wins on his resume against a washed up Julio Cesar Chavez.
It has nothing to do with DLH as a fighter. It's cuz he's purty. As far as last night's fight goes, some observations: 1. Castillo is obviously washed up. 2. Hatton threw about as perfect of a liver shot that I've ever seen in boxing. 3. There were some seriously drunk Brits in that crowd. It sounded like a Premier League football match in that arena between rounds. 4. Someone needs to tie Larry Merchant and Harold Lederman together, attach four bowling balls, and toss them into the middle of the ocean. Jim Lampley is borderline. Emanual Steward and Max Kellerman were the only ones worth listening to last night.
Oscar is going to make the IBHOF and it has nothing to do with marketing. If we're going to start counting "should haves" then he beats Trinidad and Mosely - it works both ways.
I'm not saying Oscar would have destroyed Mayweather, I'm just saying it wouldn't have been as easy. It would have been something like the Oscar fights against Mosley. Also.. Oscar only fought Vargas once. One of the fights against Mosely could have easily gone for Oscar, and he didn't REALLY lose against Trinidad, the judges just favor the more aggressive in LV! At this point I don't think anyone stands a chance against Mayweather though, maybe Hatton, Williams and Mosley stand a chance, bout outside of them, no one realistically has a chance. Also, I am Mexican but I don't idolize Oscar, never have. I don't think of him as one of the all-time greats...honestly, not even close. I have never seen him in an epic bout or any other significant fight. He is slightly overrated but he brings in the money so.. boxing loves him and in turn, so do most boxing fans.
