"B-Bob caught looking on a slow hanging curve, ending the inning... and yep, there he goes. The familiar sight of him smashing his batting helmet with his bat."
they were indeed...I didnt really go to them to pick up girls, I worked at a Fair Lanes in the late 80s/early 90s as a pinsetter mechanic. and ftr....I met my wife at a bowling alley....she was there with friends after I clocked out. the old people are only there during the day....most of the people in my Friday night league range from early 20s to mid 40s....a majority of the good bowlers(average 210+) are in their late 20s/early 30s.
My first trophy was a bowling trophy. My first date with my future wife was a bowling date. We went bowling on our wedding night. That said, I'm not a good bowler. I usually find a 16 pounder, throw it at the pocket as hard and as fast and as straight as I can while hoping for lots of pin action. On spare attempts, I'm more deliberate, take more care in aiming, and roll the ball significantly slower. Using this approach, I can routinely get above 150 and occasionally go over 200. Also, make sure you at least spare in the pivotal ninth frame. Open 9th frames hurt your score the most.
actually...... those are two different jobs. pin monkey is called a porter these days.....goes after stray pins that get knocked out of the pit onto the lane, pick up trash, clean up. mechanics spend alot of time doing maintenance and repair on the pinsetters.
we should have a CF.net bowling league. Last time I bowled I got so drunk, I sent a ball down the other persons lane while standing in front of my lane.
you should ask me about my 18th birthday some time (1989). bottom line is i got banned from Hurricane Lanes in Pasadena...
no big loss, Hurricane(now Diamond Lanes) is a craphole...I could never stand bowling there...and I went there a couple years ago for city tourney, and it was just as bad as I remembered.
