How much is it normally? I've never paid more than $1.6/game. I heard it's a lot more expensive out in the real world.
it's expensive as hell. cheapest i've ever foudn it is $3 a game, and thats during the odd hours (sunday morning before 12 or some stupid time like that)
I scored a 37 once. West Houston Bowl is like $5 for game and shoes. Kinda pricey. I'd go to a get together just so I could drink and watch R2K.
What? havent you heard? I *am* The Dude you could still roll a ball if ya wanted to, the trick is to start alot closer to the line and find a way to roll it at slower velocities. Im reminded of some of the older guys in leagues, they have had to adjust their style to compensate for physical ailments. Its not really fair to yourself to compare it to mine, I first learned to use a hook back when I was like 8 or 9.(some 30+ years ago) I average 215+ in league, and about 205 or so in tournaments. Your hand size really doesnt have much to do with it,once you have a ball drilled to your hand, it becomes alot easier to roll a hook with your whole hand instead of the two finger thing. I know several girls that are very small that can do it, Im sure you could also. you have to get a sanction card which is right at 20 bucks and lasts a full year then the weekly lineage + prize fund normally will come up to between 16-20 lots of leagues are still looking to fill out teams, if you really want to go to your nearest house and ask em if they still need people. You might get lucky. leagues start twice a year, fall (36 weeks) and summer (12 weeks) I happen to know that Alpha in Clear Lake has lots of open lanes on Saturdays.
The Dude asked me to participate in his league last week. I was quite honored but I wasn't able to do it because of a stupid pinched nerve in my back. I should be hopeful to roll soon though.
I love bowling. I was in a bowling league when i was a kid. right now, i am not sure if i can kick all of your butt at bowling because it has been a while since i last went bowling!
There's this special on the weekends at my local bowling alley called Rock 'N Bowl. I think it's $15/person including shoes from 11:00 pm - 2:00 am. If there is four of us, we can usually get in four games, which comes out to $3.75/game with shoes, which isn't TOO bad. Of course, they basically turn the alley into a club atmosphere and play really loud music and blacklights, so it's not really a good learning enviornment. It's pretty fun, though...
I'm up for a game of bowling. Last time I was bowling was years ago. I've always shot in the 140's. Not that great, but I have fun. I don't like to hook - I'm capable of hooking, but I don't have very good control when I hook. I have better control with just a very slight hook, but by hitting the pins with very little hook, I end up with quite a few splits, which results in me not picking up spares. As a kid, I was damn good at ping pong, but I haven't played since I was 13. I still have a deep passion for pool.
No wonder I've never gotten any good. I've been playing with myself all this time. moes, was it your occupation that caused a pinched nerve?
