I think it has something to do with a walkout by the students. I don't really know much more than that. But I can't wait for the season opener!!
Next monday baby!! I love Boston Public. My pops is a high school principal, so the show has some sort of meaning to him. Cod
#@!$#!$!@ Baseball contract! Don't they know the season is over? From the Chronicle season a while back. "Baseball season over for Houston."
Don't forget the premier tonight? Here are some spoilers! Biggest disappointment learned about this season: ........ ....... ...... ..... .... ... .. . The actress who plays Lauren Davis is history and no longer with the show. If you recall, she was supposed to hook up with assistant principal Scott Gruber(aka dorkwad) in the last episode of last season. Too bad for him I guess. She was kinda cute, too. Oh well...we can still gawk at Jeri Ryan .
from what i can tell, students are walking out but the jocks dont want them to because it affects their football playing or something so theres a fight. looks really stupid.
Just read that the actor who plays Harry Senate is leaving after something like 4 episodes as well. Great. This show may go downhill in a hurry. A school walk-out isn't necessarily my idea of a good time, either. I'm sorry...I'm not watching Marla rant and rave about vending machines and racism all season again. I'm outta here .
While I love BP, this first episode was weak. The advertisements were extremely exaggerated. The show has promise though. Although the show's issues may seem a little far fetched to most of our memories of High School, it's only a matter of time before Boston Public becomes a reality. Cod
I just can't bear to watch this damn show. I will watch just about anything on Fox, besides something by David E. Kelly. I would rather watch BoomTown or the Sopranos...
the pimping of the daughter seemed like a pretty big stretch. and i really cringed with the whole baby plot. and i'm sorry, but i can't picture Joey McIntyre (sp?) as a teacher. he must have had one great audition to overcome his former reputation and come across as a believable teacher.
I think this show has "Jumped the Shark" with 3 people getting dumped from the cast (Lauren, Senate & Harper's Secretary) and them always trying to cram so much into every episode I find myself losing interest. Plus, there always has to be something big happening every episode. There are never any "regular" episodes where the characters just progress and no one has something life-shattering happen. I give this show to season 4 (one more after this) and then FOX dumps it.
Anyone see Girls Club? So are all the lawyer chicks in CA this hot???? Pack my bags, I'm heading west...
I'm always going to watch BP, but I'm worried about how this show will be after Harry leaves. I've been a fan from the first season, and I'm loyal. I do think the first episode showed a lot more promise than last season, though still not as good as the first. However, from all three seasons, all the major storylines that I find myself absolutely drawn into are the ones with Harry. The second to last episode of last season (the shooting, and Harry's response) was basically a complete reminder to me of why I always watched the show. His responses tonight to the girl, the father, the anxiety... the drama there is the main reason why I watch the show. I can deal without Lauren... her character did a lot less last season after Jeri Ryan came in. I hate seeing Marla and Harvey whine about stupid stuff... Harvey has done basically nothing for me in the three years of watching the show. I know his purpose... but it just doesn't work for me.
I can't believe they're letting go of Harry Senate. He is by far my favorite character. And they let go of Lauren Davis too??? They woulda been better off letting go of Lipschitz and Marla. Lauren adn Harry were the blood of the show, so after letting them go, Boston Public is headed downhill.
The best part of the premiere was when Harry almost abused Ronnie(Jeri Ryan) when she tried to put her hands on his face to say "...look at me..." when trying to console him. He flailed his arms as if to push her and almost hit her. Then, she turned on the biyatch factor and said, "...DON'T YOU EVER GET PHYSICAL WITH ME! I WILL PUT UP WITH A LOT! BUT, THIS PHYSICAL ABUSE SHIYAT DOESN'T FLY WITH ME". I was like dayamn...love to get physical with her and get my ass kicked by her...cool("BEAT ME...HARDER; THANK YOU MAY I HAVE ANOTHER" ). You can tell Harry is going to lose it by episode 4. He is basically a paranoid schizo type after he was stabbed last season. Thing is...he is more of an introvert and hides what he is thinking from everyone...than he was before. The dude belongs in a padded closet with a straight jacket on. Poor Harry always trying to save the world and paying the ultimate price with near death experiences and mental anguish. The biggest disappointment was how they didn't even acknowledge that the past character's who left even existed?!?!? They snubbed them from the re-hash at the beginning of what happened last season. Also, one-armed lady was MIA and apparently in Area 54 as well. As far as continuity and explaining them away, they get a big fat f-ing "F". I did think the riot was pretty cool at the end, though. I love that feeling of helplessness among teachers when all they can do is nothing and lose control of the situation. As a student in high school, we always strived for that situation . The whole football team should be suspended and their funding re-directed to buying new school books and building an extension on to the school to address lack of books and classroom overcrowding respectively. The baby in the toilet bowl and Marla's lying about it was pretty stupid. She cares more about the mother-daughter relationship than the fact that the mother tried to drown the baby in a toilet bowl? That Marla has a screw loose. In my book, once an attempted baby murderer...always an attempted baby murderer. The principal's new assistant...couldn't really tell her apart from the last assistant. She's not a narc but she is a narc. Umm...okay. The new teeny bopper male teacher....is that guy a freshman in college or what? I'm sure anyone could get away with demo-ing propulsion by using chairs with rollers and fire extinguishers to race down the hall. Cough "bullshiyat"...cough "bullshiyat". Also, he did a good job of setting up the student rebellions. He would have been fired already at a real school with the way he was talking to the principal and all those stunts. In conclusion, the premiere was okay. It could have been worse. I think their running out of viable actors and school events to address in the episodes. So much for the funding they need...now they have to repair all the damage from the riots. Notice the student capturing it all on video. Some heads are gonna roll from that tape....ala LA riots. Guber should be fired as well for his little pep talk firing up the football team to confront the non-jock students. He pretty much incited the riot. Since when is Guber a jock lover, anyway. Shouldn't he be sticking up for the band's funding? Surf
