Since there wasnt a specific rule in MLB against steroids at the time, its hard for me to call him a cheater. The guy is a dick, but congrats.
I thought he did, didnt he say something about using some kind of substance his trainer said to take without "knowing" what it was?
Even if he breaks Aaron's record, I doubt it would last as long. Even if roids really made an impact on the league, there'd be a new generation of cheaters trying not to get caught....
Bonds testified to a grand jury that he used a clear substance and a cream given to him by a trainer who was indicted in a steroid-distribution ring, but said he didn’t know they were steroids, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday. Bonds told the federal grand jury last year that Greg Anderson, his personal trainer and childhood friend, told him the substances he used in 2003 were the nutritional supplement flaxseed oil and a rubbing balm for arthritis, according to a transcript of his testimony reviewed by the Chronicle. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6642400
WOW Bonds - suspect Roid Man who probably hitting off Roided pitchers and against other roided players passes Babe - BIG FISH in small pool of players - didn't play against all the best of time . . but only a select few from a selected small sample Hammering Hank is still the MAN!! Rocket River
Start pumping yourself full of steriods and you will. Just be sure to deny it when people ask why, and watch out for the nut shrinkage.
look...i like bonds. he's the greatest hitter of his generation, and i don't think there's even any question about that. but seriously...you're underrating Ruth. the guy was a monster. he was so decidedly better than the other players in the game, it's sick. i recognize the league wasn't integrated...but i have a hard time beleiving Ruth would have been bottled up or a lesser player if the game were integrated. his impact on baseball was huge.
The only thing Bonds admitted to using was flaxseed oil and rubbing balm. They have never been proven to be steroids. In fact, the trainer involved in the case has stated that he's never provided steroids to Bonds. Yet, he's admitted to providing drugs to other players... who are still active. This is a guy who, in the past 5 years, has had 1000x times more attention on him than any other player... and yet, nothing's ever been proven or found.
Nobody in this generation has even seen the guy play... not even on video. You don't know how good he was to make a statement that he was a "monster" as fact. Ruth is the product of incredible hype and New York mystique and myth. Bonds is a 700 HR / 500 STL guy... Ruth doesn't even come close to Bonds.
you know who's a cheater? Ken Caminiti, man that guy was so freakin obvious, proves how we are so moronic in America.
Incorrect. He has admitted to using the 'cream' and the 'clear', which he "thought" were flaxseed oil and rubbing balm. (lies) Denial sure is a powerful thing.
Bonds isn't even in the same ballpark as Ruth. Bonds used performance enhancing illegal drugs to rack up the statistics that he did.
Ruth also pitched for a number of years...so that reduced his number of plate appearances....dont know how much of an affect it has....just something i thought i would throw in
Yes, he is a cheater. What does he have to do with a thread about Bonds? His usage of steroids does not justify or negate the fact that Bonds is a heinous cheater and by all accounts a horrendous human being who deserves to be banished from baseball, and deserves to have his records expunged.
