From JVG in the Knick days like the playoffs he has this set rotation of like 8 players and stops right there, He didn't that in the playoffs and did well with it but then the players finally were just dead tired. I don't think he is a coach like Hubie Brown that actually goes 12 deep and keeps them running and gunning and gets everyone involved. Too bad it isn't like when i used to play YMCA ball. Everyone got to play...but then again we paid to play in the league and these boys are getting paid.....
Almost forgot, i am a believe in BOKI and i think he would do well. i really think that if we lost him he would blossom. He has the same build as Peja, 6'9" and a fluid player that can shoot. He is lacking confidence but im sure he could easily gain it with playing time. If he is shipped out im sure going to follow him to make sure he doesn't become that next peja and boom we will kick ourselves every day.
I thought we weren't tanking this year? Just kidding, lol. JVG likes to have an 8 or 9 man rotation. The starting 5. Then there's MoT, Pike and Weatherspoon. So Boki has to fight it out with Pike, AG, and Padgett for a spot that may not even exist.
I agree that JVG seems a little too afraid of his bench. It seems to me that when you're up 20 early in the game on a bad team, you want to put in guys like Nachbar who never get to play. The rotation players will got sloppy with that kind of advantage, but the guys on the end of the bench will play hungry and hussle no matter what the score is. And, if they lose the lead, you can go back to the starters without them freezing up because they squandered a big lead. They maintain their confidence to finish the game.
im all in love with boki and everything and i hope that he makes it, at least somewhere if not here. that said, comparing him to peja based on their continent and height alone is on par with comparing yao to shawn bradley for their similar height or lebron with james posey. i agree that he needs the confidence, but i also think he should be hitting the weight room harder.
What worries me about Boki is the clumsy factor. On defense, he's flailing away and off balance. His falls per game ratio is right up there with Yao.
I can understand why JVG doesn't trust Boki in the rotation. What I don't get is why he isn't playing even in garbage time? Yeah, he and Pike. Why does JVG insist on playing the starters to death (OK, exaggeration) even during garbage time?
I think that Les has to do with boki not playing this year more than the coach in this case. If he played him last year and this year and he somehow managed to put up gaudy numbers, reminiscent of Pedja's numbers the first two years, then the Rockets are obliged to negotiate a hefty contract after his 3rd year. just a thought!
Since he is not being used, why not send him to the NBDL or back to Europe so he can at least play and develop?
