They really don't seem so deep when Kobe isn't there to make things happen. I'd say the Rockets have better depth.
I was sort of thinking the same thing watching this so-called "deep" Lakers team without Kobe. The Rockets have at least as good depth. The problem is McGrady is unlikely to ever play like Kobe again. We need to get some chemistry going in the 2nd half to make up for this fact.
How do you like them apples? There will be plenty of chatter on the Lakers forums tonight. I can't believe they managed to lose this game once it got to OT.
Nah the Lakers are definitely deeper than the Rockets. It's just they are sooooooo used to Kobe time late in games that they don't know what to do when he's out.
Yea, I'm guilty of checking those threads out during games like this. It's fascinating to see their reactions. Diaw and Felton both with near trip dubs.
Which is one reason why they had little chance to beat a great defensive team like the Celts in the Finals last season.
I don't know about that. It seems he gets a lot of call to me. He just whines about every single play so it may seem like he doesn't get calls to you.
They have a lot of height in Gasol, Bynum, Ariza, Odom. They got the euro 3 point shooters. When Yao is out, the Rockets seems like they are the smallest team in the league.
They are deeper but the Lakers are still immature and have similar chemistry problems to the Rockets.
Lakers play the same half court as we do, but they're ultra soft. Gasol, Odom, Sasha, Luke, are all softies. Von Wafer > Luke Walton
I'm beginning to think about that, too. Rockets are top heavy with forwards who could start on other teams (Landry, Artest, Hayes), while I haven't seen anyone on the Lakers bench who is nearly as dynamic as Barry, Brooks, or Wafer. Nor anyone who can bring the same kind of defensive intensity as Mutombo, Hayes, and Artest. The one category they do beat us in is probably 3 point shooting/long range jump shooting with Farmar, Vujacic, and Walton. But, that's about all they can really do, consistently. Honestly, I think we can move the ball just as well as they do, especially our second unit. Also, I think we have little bit more prowess and effort on defense.
wtf is that laker fan talkign about? Kobe gets away with more hand checks and slaps than anyone. I mean anyone! He just smacks the other player and its not called cause he's Kobe. Total bull**** if u ask me.
The last foul Kobe got the offensive player ran into his legs or Kobe may have stuck it out a little and yet he gets the crucial 6th foul called on him. Such a crucial foul called at home on a superstar is lack of respect imo. It's only suppose to happen to Yao.
