Anybody that watched the whole 04-05 season clearly should remember him, he such a good player, averaged I beileve 10,6,6. He was one of the huge players on the team, I remember that one game he had against the Nets where he had 35 points, something a player named Rafer Alston will never do, Sura could drive, DUNK, was really athletic and had a basketball IQ to go along with it, and he wasn't afraid to get into the face of another player, Francis who was with the Magic was one of them, Kirk Snyder with the Jazz was another, dude also was a hustler, great passer, and a triple double threat each night. He was also the reason we were even 51-31 that season, we were 6-11, and then he came in and we won a butt load of games, going 46-20 the rest of the way.

Sura, James, and Barry gave me -- as a fan -- the best and most enjoyable Rockets season since the days of Dream, Glyde, and Chucksta battling Malone and Stockton in the WCF. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a Rockets squad more than I did those guys, they were a special group but sadly only lasted for a season.

I haven't been as enamoured with the current squad. I find them...uninspiring.

I was at the game where he first started. It was December 2nd @ Dallas and Dirk had 58 and Tmac had 47 or something along those lines.

But anyways, what exactly are you trying to point out. We all know who he is...

It's not their record, it's their style, spirit, determination...something is lacking.

It's just my impression though, I know others might disagree.

too bad they were old, and in James case, too money hungry.

We're too one dimensional is the problem. Some team throws a wrinkle at us, we look like a bunch of chicken with heads off until TMac does some pull out of his @ss athletic play or just jack up a long 3. We've pigeonholed our players to be programmed to do certain things on offense and if those are figured out we are lost.

BTW, this thread is useless without some pics of Sura's stable...

i must agree. we are lacking something and it will end up with a second round exit, if that.

So you prefer first round exit over second exit?

I took Sura for granted as a PG but now that Rafer is our PG i REALLY miss him. I LOVED Sura's pitbull spirit man he was the soul of our 05 team. Sura, Mike James, and Jon Barry played with all their heart every single game. I miss how they held the "3 fingers" sign everytime they made a three, and don't forget Wesley he was still decent in 05. I just loved that team so much. Even though we might be a little better this year, the 05 team just had so much heart thanks to Sura, James and Barry. That team was defintely my most favorite as a Rockets fan.

Is there any chance Sura might one day come back? He's not that old and his injury certainly wasn't as bad as Grant Hill's, and now look at Grant. I think Sura might come back one of these seasons...

He's already said he'll most likely retire after this season.

I love Bobby, he was great, but I just wish he had realized his limitations earlier and called it quits before the season so we could've used his salary space this off-season!

It still baffles me how someone who played one season and not even a full one at that gained such a cult following and iconic status here. I mean sura was ok and everything, but I mean he's gone, never coming back, hasn't been here for a while now, yet people still talk about him so much.

You and me both, sadly. I really can't get into the games like I used to. Hell, I was ALWAYS in chat for that season (and the ones before). But this season, I've made it like 5 times, granted I have been working 24hr shifts now. But man. I'm just not feeling it. Most of the games they play aren't even entertaining.

The only thing I can think of that we're missing, is FIRE. That team with Sura had it. They were vicious. We had a monster's attitude.

Now, we don't have that tough guy.

    We miss your HEART bobby.
